Default SuperCharger

OK, I've got a 2010 Laramie Crew 5.7 with 4.10 gears, Moe's TB, VeraRam CAI, American Long Tubes w/cats through 2-18" MagnaFlow true duals, HemiFever 6200 Tune, Edge Torgue Converter, 180 T stat, and maybe some other motor mods that I just don't remember at the moment. I was wondering if anybody out there has had success with a Supercharger on one of these? If so, what kind? This is my first venture into MOPAR territory. I have always been a Ford guy. Any help or advise would be greatly appreciated.

You have 2 real options. Procharger or Ripp (using a Vortech V3). Both are designed for 6-8psi but if you're planning on a 'charger then expect to swap a trans as the stock one doesn't handle power very well.

Your options for a trans are from Sharadon, ATS, or L&M Customs. So far, neither Sharadon or ATS has made one that reliable holds up to bigger numbers, and the L&M is becoming very popular but is still a relatively young trans. I run one myself with a D1SC procharger @12psi with a custom FMIC, but I just finished the engine swap and now I'm tuning the suspension so it's still not quite drivable.

There is a company that is throwing magnuson chargers onto the ram, however the very low-end torque is basically shredding transmissions and I only know one person who ran it for less than a year before taking it off.

Well, that's not exactly what I wanted to hear. Not seeing the value in spending 3500 to then turn around and have to spend another 3000 for a tranny. I think a grand for nitros and have it on demand instead of all the time sounds more like the direction I want to go. Any thoughts on this?

Wow! What kind of hp are you guys up to?? I'm sure curious minds would like to know! At the crank and to the wheels if you've calculated it

Pilot is probably up around 360-370hp to the wheels with his current mods, I expect to be around 600hp at the wheels.

Very impressive! Does swapping out the tranny for something aftermarket give you better torque transmission? Just curious. I've read on here that somewhere along the lines of 30% power loss with a stock automatic transmission. You'd probably know better than most

Swapping out the tranny gives you more reliability since the stock trannys suck when it comes to adding lots of HP and torque

With a Ripp kit on 4G Hemi,
my bud picked up 170HP ...went from 320 to 490 whp at 8psi

It will def go higher with a bigger fuel pump, and setting shift points to 5800-6000rpm.
HP was still climbing when we shut her down when it started leaning out at the top end after 5600 rpm
(4th gear pull)

Mine is setup the same, but now have a larger fuel pump (Aeromotive Stealth 340)
...I also added a Water/Meth Kit so it "should" break 500WHP easily now that Boost hits 9- 10psi

as Mentioned, You def want to look into a "built" trans, I killed two within a very short time
My stocker only held on for 2 months, but it sure was fun for a while lol....

I even Killed the OD clutches on my new L&M trans within two weeks (I'm a dumbass with a heavy right foot)
because I ran it too hard without the tuning required to increase line pressure to keep it from slipping.

....

I'll be opening both transmissions next month and replacing the clutch packs as soon as parts arrive and trying again.

Gotta Pay to Play

I'm ball parking the overall cost of SC Kit,Water/Meth,Fuel Pump,Triple Gauge Pod and Gauges,
E-Fan, Shorty Header and Transmission/Torque Converter at around $10k ...and that's 100% DIY installed.

It's worth it to me just to have a 12 second 5300lb sleeper that will crush most BMW's

Dam I cant believe the new tranny burned up that fast. But I guess it goes to show how bad good tuning is needed. But it does make me wonder that a rebuilt stock tranny with upgraded clutches and reworked valve body with some good tuning may support more horsepower than we all may think. But the lack of solid transmission tuners it just seems like we may never know. But good luck with the rebuild
