Yup, no problem

Howdy, fellow ram drivers.

I just recently got an 07 Ram 1500 quad cab slt, and I was wondering if y'all could answer a question for me. I don't know a whole lot about wheels and tires, so I hope I don't sound like an idiot. I want to replace the 20 inch stock rims with the 17 inch chrome alloy wheels. Both are factory wheels, and they both have the 5 by 5 1/2 lug pattern. Will this work?

I keep seeing conflicting things about this on the internet, so I decided to see what y'all thought.

Thanks for reading

Question

Tires tires rims rims wow, deciding....
Looking at going with a -24 offset black or little chrome, seems this is not as common as i thought or at least what I have found in an 18. Or do I just make it easier and go with a -12 and a hub centric wheel spacer. Going to but on 5100s when they are available . Adding pocket flares, so want some tread exposed. 5100s set to 2.8, standard bilsteins rear. Want some stick in the wet, so avoiding MTs, but look mean...
So with that said, thinking of grappler terra, trail, or toyo at extreme.
35 x 12.5
Just need some help in deciding, I think I almost got to much information from site...... but damn are there some nice trucks here!
Any guidance would be extremely appreciated.!
Thank you

You'll be OK. Of course you'll need tires to fit those 17" but I'm sure you knew that already

Half of what you wrote, I don't understand and the other half contradicts one another.

Example... You want to avoid MT's but want it to look mean?

Want some stick in wet?

What exactly are your questions and we can better assist you?
1)
2)
3)
Etc

But I'm sure most if not all your questions are answered in the original post on page 1...

Sorry for not being to clear, yes there is tons of information in the original post, I think that is why I have more questions based on the great information provided
1. I want to run an 18 inch rim, with a -24 offset so they stick out of the pocket flares the 1/2-3/4". It seems difficult to find the-24 in a black or matte finish (very little chrome), wondering if you can recommend one.

2. Or for more options should I go with -12 offset and add hubcentric spacer to get the push out, this seems to open up alot of options by doing this.

3. My statements about being mean are the look of the MTs, but will avoid them because, as I read they are not good in the wet (no siping) and realistically will only be getting them for the look. I am not a big 4-Wheeler daily on pavment and back roads and in fields during hunting season. So as I write this pretty much answer my question to go with an AT or trail. 35 x 12.5.

4. I have only found really one person state the the Nitto Trail should be siped for wet conditions, do you agree with this? Or just stick with the AT.

Just trying to avoid making the wrong decision.

Appreciate some help for 1 or just to go with 2 and your opionion on 4
Thank you.

1) It shouldn't be that difficult to find a 18x10 -24 offset wheel that's matte black. Check out Fuel Offroad, XD, BMF, or Moto Metal to start... You should find tons of options.

2) I wouldn't do that... for one I'm not a big fan of wheel spacers and if you're buying new wheels anyway you might as well buy ones with the correct offset.

3) Toyo MT's or Nitto Trail Grapplers will work fine in the rain. They don't need sipping, have you seen the tread pattern on them? There's more than enough gap for water to escape. But if you want the more aggressive look without going to a full MT tire then check out the Toyo AT2 Extremes. They'll probably be a good option for you.

4) Refer to point 3....

I have stock 20" rims and I'd like to put some a/t tires on my truck. 35" would be nice. My truck has AWD. Does that make a difference when selecting tire size? Also do you recommend a leveling kit to fit bigger tires? What kit if any would you recommend? One more thing I'm sure my fuel economy and speedo will change so which programmer would be good and easy to use to address those issues? Thanks for any help!

Since you have a 2004 to level it all you need to do is crank up your torsion bars. Just take a look underneath, they'll come back close to the tranny cross member and there will be an adjustment bolt there. Take measurements before hand as you'll only want to crank them up around 2"-2.5". You will need to level it to fit a 35" tire.

To fit 35x12.5 tires on the stock rims you'll need 1/4" wheel spacers.

Check out Superchips and Diablosport for tuners. I'm fairly certain Superchips should make one for your truck. If so that's the one I'd go for.
