On a circle, isn't height and diameter the same thing?

Yes, Yes and No

In math class yes, If you are referring to standard tire sizes (33 or 35 inch tires) then yes BUT if you are referring aspect ratio sizing (285/70/17) height refers to the the height of the sidewall so, no... there's just too many ways to go about it.

I just got a set of Duratracs I've heard they're a good winter tire.

Just bought a set of General Tire Grabber AT2's. I was running with the 265/70/R17 Goodyear Wrangler's SR-A's that came with the truck, and didn't like how they handled in the wet and slightly icy.

Scored a LT version instead of the P, as the LT version has the snowflake symbol, so they are considered a snow tire. Little bit heavier, but man, do they look good on the truck.

I 've got Nokian Hakka 7's on my '13 sport. Got a 70$ rebate as well. I went with the stock size for tires on 20" steel wheels. I did a lot of googling and these appear to be one of the best on the market. No real time snow driving in them yet, but supposed to be getting some snow this weekend.

Having moved to Virginia from Mississippi I'm wondering if I need to go with a snow tire or will a good AT tire do just as well?

I have been looking are the BFG All Terrain KO. They also are rated as winter tire. We run them on our 2wd work trucks and have no problems in winter.
I can run them all year and not worry about a second set.
At around $250 per tire, this makes sense.
