That sounds like the problem I'm having. Did you just take it out completely and re-seat?

I've got something too, sounds like it's either in the console or behind the manual hvac controls. If anyone figures this out, I'd love to hear!

Default Dash Rattle/Squeak

Sorry to be long, but there is a reason...

Live in Michigan and bought the truck in Dec 2013, with no squeak.
Started hearing a squeak in March when the temps would get in the low 40 degrees. Was somewhere in the center to passenger side cab area.
Dealer couldn't fix the problem.
Went all summer with NO squeak. Temps warmed up.
Now we are in October and the squeak is back. The funny thing is it doesn't squeak first thing in the morning when the temps are in the low 30s. But after getting to work, warming up in the low to mid 40s, when I drive back home, the squeak is back.

The truck is now at the dealer and they are replacing all 4 mounts. Fingers crossed that fixes the problem, although I don't think that is what is causing it.

Good Luck.

I have a friend that worked as a mechanic at a GM dealership back in the 70's. There was a guy with a new Cadillac that kept bringing it back because of a squeak coming from the dashboard. They ended tearing the dash apart and buried up deep inside was a piece of styrofoam with a note pinned to it that said, "How long did it take you to find this one?"
I think about that every time I hear of a persistant rattle or squeak.

I've also experienced annoying rattles coming from my dashboard after purchasing my truck. I figured it is just the plastic console or the center console chrome trim. It seems to be noticeable every time I hit a small bump or cracks in the road. I have not pin pointed the source of the noise. I guess you can say I've learned to live with it lol. Nothing is perfect, even if it is a brand new truck. I just turn up my music and enjoy the truck! Wish I could say that time wasn't an issue to bring the truck in to have the tech's check it out, but.. this truck is my DD and I cannot afford to lose it for a few days. Maybe when I'm deployed some of these little knit picking noises and issues can be addressed with my Dad taking the truck in!

I get a rattle/squeak from my passenger side window control switch when I crank the stereo up.

Any ideas on how to go about fixing this and any tips on how to get in there to have a look.

No offence to any Tech's out there, but I prefer to do this work myself even if I am still under warranty.

I didn't remove it. All I did was slide my finger around the chrome trim to make sure it was seated correctly. Well when I got to the back drivers side corner (closes to the drivers side seat belt clip) I heard a snap and immediately could tell it was seated properly. I have not had another squeak since then.

Yay total fix! Tech tore open the dash, and located the rattle. The specifics are weak, due to the code shorthand on the repair slip, but the gist of things was that some panel near the hvac ducting had come unclipped and a piece of foam was installed somewhere else.

whatever the cause I remain a happy camper.

I get a little rattle form the center console area as well, but I've almost narrowed the problem. When I would start to hear it I would put pressure on different points around the console with my hand to see if it stopped. It finally stopped when I pressed up form under the center console when the most forward storage tray is. It's either the tray or the console.................
