Default magna flow

quick question, but it seems pretty complicated ordering the correct muffler, a lot to choose from, so does anyone know the part number or correct size for the 18" magnaflow for a 2012 ram bighorn, 5.7 hemi? thanks for any info....just wanna do a muffler swap..

You need one with a single 3" inlet and dual 2.5" outlet. Magnaflow part number for a 18" muffler 5"x8" oval with those specs is 12288. You can check out their full line of universal mufflers HERE

That is the correct replacement muffler but don't be fooled; it will not simply bolt up. You'll need to add some length to either the 3" in and/or the 2.25" output piping because this muffler is a good 8" shorter overall than the stock muffler.

Yes, this is true^^ Unless you have a welder and access to extra pipe (which isn't hard) you're going to be bringing it to an exhaust shop for install. You're probably better off doing that anyway as they'll do a nicer job.

Thanks for the fast replies, definitely having a shop install, not sure whether to have it clamped or welded just in case there is a warranty issue with ram down the road...

FWIW I had mine clamped, and thought it was really sturdy. My bud who helped me suggested we tack weld it. I said nah.
2 weeks later the fuker wiggled loose and the whole pass side exhaust fell off behind the muffler, and dragged along the road until I could stop. It was only holding on by the bend over the axle. We were in a rush to go camping that day so I threw the exhaust in the garage, hooked up the trailer and went.
3 hours each way, she was working fairly hard (32' trailer).
When we got home the e-brake engaged and then wouldn't disengage. Looked beneath, it was cooked. Literally.
So we cut the pass side e-brake cable with an angle grinder and welded the whole exhaust. 2 days later, replaced the pass side e-brake cable.
Lesson; WELD IT. What warranty could you possibly worry about with a muffler?

Yup, you definitely want to weld it in. No matter how tight you clamp it, it will get loose, it will move, and it will leak. No question.

You won't have any issues with warranty by simply installing a muffler. I can't think of any problem that a dealership could blame a muffler for.

I had faith because the stock system was only clamped. Mistake.

I did a Mufflex swap almost 2 years ago, bolt on, has not moved, has no leaks, just checked it last week while I was under there, The original muffler is a bolt in.
