For the 94-97 model year trucks

VIN: Z -- 5.9L 8cyl MPI-LDC
VIN: 5 -- 5.9L 8cyl MPI-HDC

For the 98-01 model year trucks

VIN: Z -- 5.9 Liter V8 MPI (LD)
VIN: 5 -- 5.9 Liter V8 MPI (HD)

VIN Z and 5 only apply to the Magnum 360 V8.

I assume they are the same, just coded differently. Easy way to tell if you have a 2500 HD, is there would be an EGR valve. The LD's don't have one.

Heavy Duty and Light Duty, I assume C is just an abbreviation for Cab. HD's has a GVW ratting of 8800lbs and the LD's has a ratting of 7600lbs.

I know this is an old thread, but if anyone still watching, LDC/HDC =

Light Duty Cycle (Vin Z), easily determined by checking if there are one or two O2 sensors (LDC has 1).

Heavy Duty Cycle (Vin 5), has 2 O2 sensors.

I checked this against my service manual to verify the O2 sensors.
