Default Cold Air Intakes

So I've searched thru the forum and found several different threads on CAI's with K&N, S&B, Bully's and AFE as the most "popular".
I want to put one on my truck for no good reason but am curious if anyone has taken a shot at one of these http://www.ebay.com/itm/370616384530...84.m1438.l2649
Uses a K&N but can't seem to find much info on them anywhere.

Honestly, it's a waste of your time and money to put that intake on. It's not even a cold air intake as it's not a closed design. You're better off keeping the stock one. If you're looking for a few small performance gains on the cheap your best bet is to just mod your OEM intake by putting in a drop in filter, adding a secondary intake tube to the bottom of the air box, and replacing the pipe between the air box and throttle body.

If you're more after looks then going for the S&B or Vararam (depending on your taste). The S&B intake is the best all around intake on the market IMO. It looks great, performs great, and will give you a small increase in sound. Plus it is a true CAI.

If you want more sound then go for an Airaid. They are an open design so performance wise it won't really give you anything over stock but it will definitely be loud.

For $112 + $35 shipping I would do exactly what Brandon suggested (and I don't even know him LOL)
Add a "cold air intake tube" to the bottom of the factory airbox and buy a good quality drop-in filter- that means NO K&N!!! Look at S&B or a Green filter.
Spend the rest on a catch can and you will be happy.

If you really want more sound at WOT get yourself the lower half of a stock airbox and cut the heck out of it so it's nearly open to below, and upgrade your filter. That will do everything the Air raid "CAI" (WAI really) does for next to nothing.

Are you still installing the S&B in your own truck?

Yes I'm planning on it. It's on my list right after a turbo back exhaust system
CAI's are a bit of a different story for diesels though... My turbo'd 6.7 needs a lot more air than an N/A 5.7.
