Default Fish-Tailed Into A Ditch, Now I Have Problems

I was driving around some dirt roads this weekend and I was fish tailing around this corner, lost control, and smashed my front passenger side pretty hard into the side of a ditch. The first thing I noticed was that my wipers and window washer sprayer would not stop. I pulled the fuse to turn them off and when I put it back in later they won't work anymore. Then I realized my transmission won't shift until my rpms get really high. it also down shifts sometimes when im going like forty and the rpms jump way high. Also somehow I got this crack like someone threw a baseball at my windshield up at the top of my windshield on the driver side. My front passenger tire also came unseated a little and les schwab put a bead on it to reseal it. My main concern is the transmission issues but if anyone has any ideas on the window wipers and sprayer i would really appreciate it. Could they be connected somehow? Thank you in advance for the help!

First off, get up under your truck and check the transmission linkage/cables and make sure it's intact and not bent or covered in mud. Never had a 98 Dodge and so I don't know what it has but it either a kick down band or a throttle cable of some sort that could be out of wack from the ditch. It adjust the pressure to the solenoid/transmission. If it's a cable the wreck could have yanked or tugged on it. The more pressure/throttle the longer it stays in gear. Without it I think it would shift very fast and you wouldn't have a passing gear to use. So you may have something wedged up against the cable or what ever it uses to determin the rpms/shifts

Thank you for your help! I'm trying to find a picture or a diagram to help me figure out exactly what I'm looking at but I can't find one that I can understand that identifies what I'm looking at. Does anyone have a picture of theirs that they can label? Or have a link to one?

I took it to to AAMCO and they said that since it shifts properly when you first start it up and then it stops shifting into second once its warm that it means the transmission probably needs to be rebuilt. They said to know for sure they'll have to drop the pan and look at it though. Do you guys agree? Is it just a coincidence that this happened right after I put it in the ditch, or could have I caused some harm to the transmission when I did this? Or do you disagree with their diagnosis or have any other suggestions?

I discovered that if I put it into neutral for a couple seconds, then back into drive it will shift into second and then it shifts fine into 3rd and 4th. Does this mean anything to anyone? Do you think my lower gears are worn out?

Run from AAMCO just as fast as you can. find a private shop to deal with.

Has it been fixed? Sorry I missed the outcome of this. I would at least change the filter and fluid and do what Screamintrashcan said. They'll tell everyone they need a new transmission whether they do or not. Anyway, good luck.

I wish I would have seen your replies earlier. I had AAMCO rebuild it, they said it was one of the worst trannies they'd seen and charged me $3200 to rebuild it.
