Default Flicker on engine start AND Cree reverse bulbs

Hey all

I have the 55w HID retro solutions kit installed. They seem to be working fine most of the time, but every time I start the engine at night the right bulb flickers during cranking, and once in a while it won't come on until I turn the lights off and back on again. Any ideas? Bad ground maybe?

Also, I have Cree 7440 reverse lights. I'm very happy with the light output, but it seems the bulbs somehow interfere with the backup camera, making it fuzzy and distorted. Unless there's a fix for this, do you guys recommend a different bulb?

Thanks

From what you describe, I think you have a bad ground in the passenger side or a lose power connection. Both would cause this problem as you are not getting the proper power to the bulb for it to light.

You could also swap the ballasts and see if it changes to the drivers side. This would check the ballasts.

Hope this helps.

Let us know what you find. Just curious if you have the auto-headlight feature disabled? So when you unlock the truck the headlights don't come on. I've been told that feature puts extra stress on HID ballasts and bulbs.

Having auto heads on will eventually cause your hids to burn out quicker. When did you get these HIDs? I had the same problem with my ballasts and had to call retro solutions because they had a batch of bad ballasts that were distributed. They have since recalled those ballasts and are replacing them for free. I bought my HIDs from JJ back in November and had an issue with mine. Called Retro Solutions, described the problem and was told that the new ballasts were being delivered in mid december. They emailed me a few days ago asking for my address and received the ballasts 2 days later. I now have no more issues. Let me know if you need anything.
