I don't believe bullying is any worse now than it was when I was a youth and I'm not that old. It just seems like kid's aren't equipped with the skills to deal with it any these days. I agree that bullying needs to stop, but at some point we need to ask why kids can't handle it like they did in the past. Maybe the all the padded playgrounds, participation trophies, and raising kids like they are royalty isn't working.

I understand the cyber bullying thing, but that's very easy to solve. You can report posts on social networks to have them deleted and even ban a person if it persists. I had facebook delete an inflammatory post about myself. It was taken down and the person sent a warning within the hour.

When I went to school we were scared chitless of our teachers for fear they would slam us for acting out or whatever. Trust me they could and did!! I got paddled several times for simply not having my math homework done. Got slammed against lockers for horsing around with friends by a teacher. Others were slammed face down to the ground for attempting to hit another student. Then they would get our parents involved and we would get slammed again. Bunch of pussies today if U ask me. Once corporal punishment was banned all this bullying chit started. Kids do not fear adult teachers today period. This was done at a public school mind U. I've talked to others that went to private catholic schools and we got off lucky compared to what the nuns did to them! No matter what the consequences STAND UP FOR YOURSELF AND OTHERS FOR CHIT SAKE!

First off, I don't agree with bullying. But, kids nowadays seem to ask for it. If you act like a pansy, chances are, you're gonna get some other kid bullying you. You cry at school, you're a target. You feel the need to broadcast that you're gay, and you're gonna get unwanted attention.

I was never bullied, but I could see where if I had acted like a gutless, little pushover, it would most likely have happened. Talking to my parents about it, they agree.

This is all my perspective (a guy's), in both public and private school. Kids go need to stand up for themselves.

See that's the whole point. They aren't asking for it, they are just being themselves.

The problem is that if you are an individual and act as you feel comfortable, and not march to the beat of everybody else's drum, then you are deemed different and a target for bullying.

What of the introverted kid who prefers a book to a football pitch, an imaginary friend to that of an obnoxious kid, or a gay kid just trying to make heads or tails of his or her life?

Bullying is not an excuse because society can't deal with you, its a cowards way of not being able to accept those around you of being different and not carbon copies of one another.

This is true to an extent, but kids today are taught that its okay to be themselves, but not that they might receive negative attention for it. For example, most gays I have come across are incredibly obnoxious about it. Then they piss and moan when someone disagrees with that, not realizing that you don't have to broadcast your sexual preference in every situation.

You can tell your kid what's right and to be themselves, but depending on how they express them self, they might receive negative attention and people do not seem to understand that. It's like letting your daughter dress like a prostitute, then wondering why she is getting unwanted attention from guys.

A lot of it is how you carry yourself in school/situations.

Like I said before, I don't condone bullying. I was/am an introvert, but I also knew that I had to carry myself with confidence and stand up for myself.

Several years ago I was working in my garage and my 110lb German Shepard (Sam) was laying by the door. There were a bunch of pre-teen kids outside and maybe six were picking on one smaller guy with thick glasses giving him a pretty hard time. I was getting ready to say something when Sam gets up walks over to the little guy and makes it very clear to the rest of them that the bullying was about to stop. Sam stayed with the kid until supper and every day after school the kid came over and would just hang out around Sam so he wouldn't be bothered. I got a good laugh out of it as I was going to do something but I think Sam's way worked better.

I have an Autistic son who is very capable and we are keeping him in regular classes and I have a beautiful and very smart daughter both are in middle school both come home crying because of the teasing and picking that goes on.I have been to the school and I have spoke with parents and nothing stops. I have even had parents say well they shouldn't be so weird. What the **** they have to go to school my boy doesn't get to choose how he acts at times and my daughter just likes to read and be left alone and parents are talking shit too its crazy. I have seen 2 suicides do to bullying. Its no joke something needs to happen, but what can we do if the bullys parents agree with the bully. We have been to 3 schools in 2 years and this school by far is the best one its a small town and it takes time to assimilate in a small town I hope it ends. Now my youngest daughter and son are already the popular kids. I think the difference here is the oldest are in the 6th and 7th grades (when kids start to have hormonal issues) and the youngest are in 1st and 3rd when kids are still sweet.
I just wanted to give my rant and I am out of ideas on how to fix it.

I agreeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee eeeeeeeee.

I dont mind gay people at all. Even if they compliment me for whatever reason. A compliment is a compliment, no matter who from. One of my best friends is gay, and a guy at my fire department is gay. One of them you'd never guess in a million years is gay, and the other, my friend, youd probbbabblly assume. But he doesn't flaunt it around. What drives me nuts is when they scream and yell in that god awful high pitched annoying ass tone. Its not the gay people im annoyed with. Its ANYONE that seems to feel the need to talk like that.

And this might come off as rude. But get over it.

If your daughter is upset because people are calling her a slut or a whore. Look what shes wearing, Look at her texts. look who she hangs out with. That label doesn't just jump to a random person. It gets stuck there for a reason. Don't get me wrong, there are those awful cases where the rich snobby girls call a little innocent girl those names. But chances are thats not the case.
Like Im tired of girls saying theres no good guys left. No? Theres no good guys because Cheap prices attract many easy customers. Start dressing dressing appropriately and pull yourself up and hang out with the right people.
like what was said, Its all about how you present yourself.

Like lets go back to the gay topic. Its your decision how you want to presnt yourself. If you want to make yourself look like an easy target than go for it. If you don't want to be bullied about being gay, Then say "Yeah, I'm gay. don't like it? then **** off and get out of my life." Stand up for yourself and problem solved. Hell, ask your friends to help. If my gay friend told me he was getting messed with for being gay, My big muscled gay friend at my Fire Station would go have a little heart to heart conversation with this bully.

Problem solved. Im not saying to beat the bullies up or anything. But kids of my generation and below don't seem to understand that the bullying is NOT going to stop by itself. YOU have to stop it. Ask for help.

Thats more or less what I was trying to get at in that post. Your Silence wont stand up for itself.

Now this a story we all should live by. Dogs know right from wrong, instinctually. Humans seem to have lost this power. Want to argue this with me? Go right ahead. Bullying should NOT be tolerated. "Bringing something upon yourself" is not a viable argument. I saw my share of what they called "teasing" when I was in school. This was directed at what the other kids deemed "fags, retards, wimps, nerds, etc." I was a wrestler and a football player in high school. I NEVER tolerated any behavior like this. I was also not popular with the "Jocks" I played with. I listened to heavy metal music, and smoked weed. Fu*k them. I was the guy who walked the one blind girl in our school to her class after all the other jerk-offs made fun of her daily. How the hell would YOU feel if this were you? People are people, and unless they act like an assh*le to you, you had better give them the benefit of the doubt. Otherwise, YOU"RE the assh*le!!
