Default winter driving

what has happened to the days of just putting studded snow tires on the rear of the vehicle. of course this was back in the days of bias tires. can we just put studed snows on the the back of our trucks and ride our normal tires on front? thanks all.

I wouldn't.

I'm a proponent of having 4 matching tires in winter. I want the same amount of traction on all 4 corners of the vehicle. If I only drove in a straight line, maybe 2 winter tires would do, but I occasionally turn left and right and want the front tires to grab the road.

In Saskatchewan, winter driving is a big deal because accidents or hitting the ditch in -40 are serious business. Being able to avoid other drivers is a big advantage. All season or summer tires won't give you enough control in an emergency situation to avoid accidents.

It's a safety issues as far as I'm concerned and I want to be as safe as possible.

My 2 cents.
