Default Is my 5.9 Magnum Pinging?

At idle I am not hearing anything out of the ordinary.

I keep reading that a ping sounds like marbles in the bottom of a can.

Well when I am on 1/2 to WOT I do hear something odd, but it does not sound like marbles being dropped in a can. It more sounds like marbles being spun around the bottom of a can. I would say that if I go aver 2K RPM I start hearing this noise. More like a marble being spun/rolled around the bottom of a glass jar.

I just replaced the Distributor Cap (with Accel), Rotor (Accell), Wires (MSD), and Ignition coil (MSD). I am not doing the plugs until I fully Seafoam the motor. But in replacing all of that, the motor seems to spin up much faster. Before it kind of was a dog at low rpms, now it burns right through the low RPM range (rotor looked really bad, much shorter then what I pulled out). But of course, since I reach over 2K rpm much more often, and much easier now, I hear that marble spinning in the bottom of a glass jar sound more. Is that pinging? Or is that something else spinning up making noise? Maybe the belt slipping or something?

Pinging could be caused by 2 things that i can think of
cheap gas or the timing is off

to me the pinging sounds more like a very small ball peen hammer being hit onto a heavy weight anvil every second or two

I am not getting sound like that at all, it is more like a squealing at >2.2K rpm, like a marble being spun around the bottom of a glass jar.

My experience with this engine and pinging, spark knock, whatever has come down to a blown plenum gasket, the next thing you'll see on your scanner, if this is it, is cylinder # whatever misfire, or multiple cylinder misfire. If theres oil inside your intake when viewed from open throttle plates, well, you've joined the club!
