Default battery upgrade

So my factory battery is ok at best during the winter. Has anybody installed an Odyssey battery in their truck? They are a bit larger than the battery tray and would need a new custom tray made.

Im not sure on the install of the truck but I have odysseys in both my seadoos and they are great. Never worry about them not having enough juice to turn over on the water.

The Odyssey is not only a very good battery but last I read, they make the Sears Die Hard Platinum and the Die Hard are somewhat less expensive. Have not had the need to replace my OEM yet, so I cannot speak to the install.

Yes!

I have the Odyssey® Battery [65-PC1750T] on my truck HERE.

I was an exclusive DieHard Platinum fans for many years and it's what I had in my truck after a month of purchase. I swore nothing touched them. I'm very brand loyal, for the most part, and didn't think I'd be swayed away from DieHard Platinum batteries.

I'll purchase nothing but an Odyssey® Battery from here on.

Is Odyssey no longer making the Sears Die Hard Platinum?

For many years, Odyssey manufactured the Diehard Platinum line for Sears.

As of March 2013, Johnson Controls I believe took over the manufacturing of Diehard Platinum.

I was told Odyssey was looking forward to the contract/agreement expiration as they no longer want to be affiliated with a dying breed [Sears].

This information relayed to me by two separate sources thru Sears, Roebuck & Company; so take it for what it's worth.

It's sad what has become of Sears [LINK]

Good thanks, can you tell me how you made it fit? Or post pics? That group 65 is a huge battery. I was hoping to fit the group 34 at least. (group 34 is $315 up here)

It's a tight fit, but it fits.

I scrapped my battery cover/blanket soon after purchase so that was a no issue. The OEM mounts were used in the OEM location. Nice clean install.

The only issue was the battery is reversed when mounted because the posts are reversed if you want it to sit with the Odyssey logo facing you. You'll see what I mean when I post pictures.

I'm off to WVA tomorrow and back on the weekend. I'll post some snaps when I return.

Thanks a lot grub!! Ya I don't care about the logo, as long as the wires reach.

The wire's length was my main concern too.

If I had installed it with the logo facing the front [battery posts reversed], then I would have had to extend both the positive and negative cables. I didn't want to do that and didn't care for the logo being visible.

Fit fine.

You'll see.
