Default magnaflow dod14m install?

I have a 2013 ram 1500 I bought the magnaflow dod14m 3"inlet/2.5"outlet. obviously its a lot shorter then the stock muffler. so my question is if I have to put a piece of pipe in would the inlet be the better choice to put a pipe or what? help appreciated

The DOD14M slips on replacing your factory muffler; the pipes are already welded on the 14" Magnaflow muffler with hanger included, that's why they cost a little more because their ready to install. 3" inside diameter inlet / 2 1/4" dual outlet inside diameter at end of pipes to slip over existing dual factory 2 1/4" tail pipes.
