Default Adding OEM stereo w/ navigation

Getting lost in all the letters (RBZ, RHR, RES, etc.) and I just can't figure out what I need to buy.

2012 Express crew cab, currently have the base model stereo (I think its a RES?) with uConnect bluetooth

What model touchscreen stereo do I buy? I'm really just looking for navigation, don't need a mygig hard drive or to watch DVDs...also seeing high-speed, low-speed bus....confused as hell

Will all of them jive with my uConnect bluetooth?

Also, what the hell is a lockpick, and do I need it to install the stereo?

yeah, i know, noob questions

thanks in advance

the 2009 - 2012 must have the High Speed Can Bus to operate a STOCK OEM radio

the RAM OEM Navigation radios that were available for those years are:
high speed RER 730N with Navteq Navigation maps... available in years 2009 & 2010

high speed RHR 730N OEM Navigation radio with NAVTEQ Navigation maps .. 2011 & 2012 Rams

high speed RHB 430N OEM Navigation radio with GARMIN Navigation maps.. 2009 - 2012 --- this seems to be the preferred stock OEM navigation radio

all of these radios are called MYGIG radios,
they all are 1.5 DIN, with a 6.5" touch screen

the RER & RHR radios have Uconnect Bluetooth built into the radio ( no external bluetooth module is needed )

the RHB has to have the external bluetooth module like you have already, Unless your current radio is the RES(s), ( which does Not have the phone receiver hard button )
if your current RES radio has the phone receiver hard button, you can install the RHR 430N radio & use your current bluetooth module with it

the high speed radios that came in the 2009 - 2012 Rams were:
RER & RHR 730N ... highest cost
RHB 430N ... a bit less costly
RES 130 ... base radio with bluetooth & telephone hard key
RES(s) 130 lowest priced, given bluetooth as an after thought, uses a different external module then the others

DIN is a measurement, it only has Height & Width measurements, it does not use a Depth measurement
The measurement of a standard DIN slot is 2-1/8” (50mm) height by 7-1/8” (180mm) width.

DOUBLE DIN is approximately twice as tall & the same width, 4.5" x 7-1/8th".

Chrysler & several other vehicle makers use the DIN & 1/2, or 1.5 DIN, “DIN and a Half” which measures approximately 3 3/16″ in height and 7 1/8″ in width.

you may find that by checking out the website
http://www.crutchfield.com/S-87AZAzNP97L/
you may find a compatible radio with all your wants & needs for a similar price to what a used RHB radio would cost you

you may also be able to sell your current radio & especially the uconnect bluetooth module for a nice price

I hope this helps explain our radios a bit better
your question is a common one, even from veteran members

To my knowledge the RHR has voice recognition for entering destinations and basic radio functions where the RHB does not.

when i did the RHR upgrade i had to get a reflash to make it stop doing background operations when the truck was off.

ok, so my RES 130 has the telephone hard key...meaning i have an external uconnect module

sounds like i want the RHB 430N if i want to stick with OEM parts...what is a decent price to pay for one of these units?

if i go aftermarket, i either need to keep my factory bluetooth module or get a receiver that has its own bluetooth capability, correct?

the highest price that you will pay is from this seller, although that website is a darn good place to get information from, including what vehicles came with the RHB
http://www.ebay.com/itm/MOPAR-FACTOR...B:STORE:US:101

you should be able to find a RHB 430N high speed for $400 more or less
just remember to ask where the mounting tabs are located

the aftermarket radios that come with bluetooth, likely won't use the Chrysler bluetooth

click on the image of the Rams at the top of the page, it will take you to the rest of this website & you will see the For Sale listings, maybe there is one for sale at a reasonable price

Otherwise, go to the CRUTCHFIELD website, fill in the form for your vehicle, then click on the features that you would like to have, a fairly full listing of radios that are compatible will be shown

Found a couple on ebay the 430N RHB's...however they are only asking $450 and other used ones are going for way more...im skeptical on buying something like that from ebay for that cheap and it not working. Take a stab at it if you want and let me know if it works! http://www.ebay.com/itm/2011-2013-DO...item2331d29a76

If I have the res with the hard phone button does that mean that I have the Bluetooth module in the dash someplace ? Or could I have the radio without the actual Bluetooth module?
