Default decal removal

when i bought my truck it had fairly large decals on the doors, because it was used as a municipal water dept truck. i removed the decals with little trouble, but there is a good deal of residue left over. i was told wd-40 would help but it did little. now if the least bit of dust gets on my white truck there are brown circles on the doors..

if anyone has any tips of how to remove the residue, they would be greatly appreciated.

thank you.

As you found out, WD-40 attracts dirt almost as fast as a vacuum cleaner

it works great for displacing water, like if you clean off your engine using water, you can use a rag to mop out most of the water, then use WD-40 to spray into the spark plug boots to get rid of the water in them
if i recall correctly, WD-40 stands for Water Displacement, 40 is the number of chemical tests done to perfect the solution to meet US Military standards for use in amphibious vehicles
They now claim over 1,000 different uses for WD-40, sent in from people that don't know a better product to do the job correctly
If i caught someone using it on my paint job to get give it a polished look, i would chase them down the street cussing them all the way

Use a product like GOO GONE & a heat gun set on low, or use a hair dryer when your better half goes shopping
there are other methods, you have to decide which process to use

im a fan of the 3m adhesive eraser wheel.

then i would compound/polish the area to remove/hide the shadowing effect you will no doubt have from the decal.

My truck was once a company owned truck that had decals on the doors. The dealer removed them before I picked it up, but there was a little residue left on the doors that I noticed after I washed it. I used goo gone and it worked great. But, depending on the color of your truck (mine is black) don't rub too hard because you will definitly see small scratches, even with a microfiber towel. I noticed it immediately when I started and wiped with as little pressure as possible.
