Default 1995 Ram 1500 Fuel Pump Replacement

After trying for hours to lower the fuel tank as recommended by the Haynes manual, I could not get the two bands to release so I was about to give up and call a shop. I then got on this forum and read where raising the bed is an alternative method, which at the time I thought was mind-blowing crazy. My son and I removed the 8 bed bolts, tail gate, rear lights and bumper which we were going to replace anyway. Next had to thread the wires from the rear lights down and away from the bed. Next lifted the bed up and rocked it back with the bottom front of the fender well coming to rest on the rear tires. We are not big people so we were surprised that the bed was relatively light compared to what we expected, however it would have been better to have 4 people instead of just two. This allowed enough room to access the pump easily. With the new pump installed it fired right up which pleased everyone. I will place 2x4s on the frame to assist in getting the bed back aligned easier, then drive it over to a carport where I will use pulleys to lift off the bed again so that we can clean and paint the frame.
Looking back, I should have removed the 8 bolts, then lifted up each side individually and slid in 2x4s between the bed and frame to begin with...and then push or pull the bed back with the bed resting on the 2x4s. What the 2x4s will do is allow the supports on the bed to glide back instead of getting hung up on the frame's attach points. See attached photos and a big thanks to other forum members for pointing out the bed-lift method.
Almost forgot to mention. Another thing you will have to do is remove the gas cap, then remove the three screws securing the gas fill tube to the bed.
