Question Burning oil

2005 QCSB with 70000 on the odometer using about 1 quart every 5000 miles, is that anything out of the normal. I have no internal mods and it doesnt smell like oil in the exhaust. Any help is appreciated greatly.

Have you done any tests ?
Compression dry & wet
Radiator pressure
are you running a catch can ?
have you ever used Sea Foam?
when was the last time that the spark plugs were changed?

Its a 3rd gen so I cannot use a catch can.. sadly, I changed the plugs at 65k. I put a can of seafoam in every 3 tanks of fuel regularly. My coolant I flushed 10k miles ago and the level hasnt moved and is still the same red color it was when I put it in. And I have not ran any compression tests.

A quart every 5,000 miles? That's normal for any big V8 motor, I think. I've had Mazdas that burned a quart every 1,000 miles when new, quart every 500 miles with 100,000 miles. Try Penzoil Platinum 5W20 oil, you might be surprised after a couple changes. I used to use Mobil 1 in both of my hemis, switched to Platinum and Fram XG 16, now my 280,000 mile RT Magnum uses 1 qt every 15,000 miles. The oil that I remove after 15,000 miles looks amber not black. Check out this report.

Thank you sir. I figured it wasn't out of the extreme norm but it still bugs me I was running mobil 1and it was about 1 quart every 3k so I switched to amsoil and it was slowed to 1 quart every 5k
