Default Door Locks

Does anyone else have an issue getting the doors to lock with the little button on the front door handles?

This morning (not the first time) but I pushed the button and the lights went out but the locks were still in the unlocked position.

I had to use my fob to lock the truck.

Anyone???

I've noticed a few times it didn't work if I was an arms length away. If step up closer to the truck and try it again and it works.

My assumption is that the fob in my left pocket was too far away when I was reaching to lock it with my right hand.

...now that I'm writing this, I don't even know if having the fob on you is a requirement to lock the truck with the handle button.

I just assumed it was, since it is a requirement to unlock it.

Yes, having the key fob in close proximity to the outside door button is a requirement for the button to lock the doors. I find it annoying that if my keys are in the house I have to open up the door to lock the doors when there is a perfectly good lock button on the outside. My Mother's 2013 Dodge Journey is the same way.

Theres another possibility here as well, I think once you close the door you need to wait a second or two to hit that button.

Also when you press the button you can't have your hand wrapped around the door handle, if you do the sensor on the inside of the handle which unlocks the door will be active and won't let the truck lock because it's getting a signal to unlock at the same time.

Hope this makes sense.

I fear this is exactly what I am doing, I had an issue this morning again and looked down to find my index finger was actually just on the inside of the handle. Removed it and pushed the button and horn honked and doors locked.

Funny though every time regardless of if the button goes down the horn honks which is scary considering the doors might not be locked.

Hello Mr. Wood B. Thief here is my unlocked 2013 Laramie Longhorn 4x4 sitting here for you to drive off.

Yep I hear ya, I figured that might be the issue. I have caught myself doing it a couple of times in fact. I have taught myself to just use one finger, I don't even rest my hand on the handle anymore.

As for the horn beeping, I wonder if turning that option off might be better? That way you could better hear the locks engage when you hit the button. Just a thought.

I turned off the horn and lights flashing. But yes sometimes it fails to lock when I push the button but it seems to happen mostly when the key fob is in a coat pocket next to my cell phone. Usually when I twist around and get the fob closer to the door it works.

Fob and cell phone in the same pocket can cause sufficient interference.

ETA: I wonder if the signal from the fob is interfering with my phone's ability to stay on the bluetooth connection, even though they aren't right next to each other.

Have had a few issues recently unlocking/locking with the passive system. Funny thing is though it's always in the same place around the same time, when I'm getting out of work. Touching the inside handle does nothing, nor will pushing the button. By the time I get home though, she works fine. Only happened twice now, will be monitoring.
