Default Car Thieves

I just saw a report that states, car thieves are now using programmers to start and steal cars and trucks. They plug a programmer into the service port under the dash, check for starter program and then drive away.
So BEWARE.

I have 400 db of Piezo sirens on the inside of my cab, if they can plug in that turner and leave with my truck before there ears bleed and they go deaf they can have my truck and I will call my insurance. But yes they seem to have figured out how to get to the trucks system and use it to take the trucks

Given the current complexity of seed and key algorithms there has to be more to it. I would love to read this story, could you post a link please?

Love it, that certainly would be a deterrent.

The OP may be referring to a piece on either ABC Evening news or 20/20 last night, not sure which but I saw it also. Check the ABC evening news and/or 20/20 (also ABC) websites. Just goes to show that all the deterrents probably will stop a motivated thief.

Man! Good thing I stumbled upon this thread. I was just heading up to Montreal to steal your truck. But really, this would be great to have. I would love to come out to my truck to find some A-hole convulsing and his fingers smoking!

PaulMys, yup and the way things are today you'd end up being the one going to jail. It's getting pretty sad.

Not if you dispose of the body properly. But, yes. I do know what you are saying. Sad indeed.

Heck, we did this back in the late 60s as a joke. Used a spark-gap coil or a DC to DC converter.
