Default Total noob needs help with rims/tires

As the title implies, I am a total beginner when it comes to rims and tires so please take that into account.

I've had this 2011 Ram Sport since I drove it off the showroom floor. I'm getting to that point that I'm going to need 4 new tires sooner than later (50,000-ish miles). While shopping for tires, I decided to check out the rim and tire packages. I have my sights set on some 22's with Hankook Ventus Performance ST's in a 305/45/22.

I have no intention of putting a lift on the truck.

My questions are in regards to the fitment and quality of the tires themselves. Without a lift or level, will this tire and wheel combination rub at full lock? Secondly, does anyone have any experience with these tires? Good, bad, or both.

If it helps, I live in Tampa, FL so I don't expect to be driving in snow anytime soon, but in the event I drive north in the winter for something, I'd feel better knowing that the tires will still get me around without compromising safety.

Currently, I'm still driving on the stock 20's with the Goodyear Wranglers. 265/60/20's IIRC.

I appreciate any useful advice.

TIA

What offset are the wheels that you're looking at? That will play into this a lot. The height of those tires won't be a problem on a stock truck but the width could be if you don't have the right offset rims.

Thank you for the reply!

I do not know. The site with the package was being a PITA, however I found another retailer that gave me some offset options based on the bolt pattern, which I also do not know anything about.

My options were:

Diameter---Width---Bolt Pattern---Offset
22--- 9.5 ----5x114.3/5x120---- 32
22---- 9.5--- 5x115/5x120.65 ---15
22--- 9.5---- 6x135/6x139.7---- 30
22--- 9.5---- 5x112/5x127 ----32

Hopefully that makes more sense to you than it does to me

Okay... well I'm gonna stop you right there. None of those bolt patterns work for your truck.

Ram 1500 bolt pattern is 5 on 5.5" or 5 on 139.7mm. None of those offsets would work for you running a 305 wide tire either.

Those will be pretty wide... But ya first you have to find the tire in the proper bolt pattern. I had my hopes and dreams set on this awesome set of rims.. Until I was informed it was the wrong bolt pattern, and then reaized that the rim didn't come in that bolt pattern no longer .

Tell me about it. I actually put 40,000 of those miles on in the last 20 months. I only put 10k on it from March 2011-March 2012. Then the flood gates of July 2012 opened. PA to Binghamton, NY round trip. PA to Pensacola, FL then to Tampa and back to PA. PA to NC then Tampa then back to NC, and then back to Tampa. Then 2 round trips from Tampa to PA.

I absolutely hate abusing my vehicles like that but it's just too much dang money to fly and then rent a car these days.

And the hopes are dashed LOL.

I really appreciate your information sir! Thank you.

And that will also be the last time I use one of those, "What fits my truck" finders on many of the aftermarket sites.

Well well well...

Let's suppose I searched other retailers and found the rim 5x5.5/5x139.7 in offsets of 10, 15, and 20. Is this more do-able?

Yup, that's a lot more doable. You're going to need the at least the 10 offset to clear the 305 wide tires. But that set up should work.

That's good to hear. Which of the three offsets do you think would be the safest choice? All 3 are in stock, so I can get whatever I choose.
