Default Heater and electric

I have 2001 Dodge Ram 4x4, 5.2L and it has some heating issues. I have replaced the actuator connector for the blend door, which is working and cleaned out my Heater core with air and I will burp my radiator tomorrow. And I am hoping these things will cures my no heat but today, I was driving along at about 25 and switched on the heat, just to see if things had improved, (truck fully warm) and the engine just shut off completely.

It has to be electrical because the engine just died, strait away and then would not start. It turned over but no ignition, which is not like this truck because it starts on the the first crank every time.

After it died I waited (3 mins) then tried to start it again and this time it started. I drove home, 500 yards and just as I was pulling in to the drive the truck died again but this time I did not have the heater fan running.

So I restarted again, (30 Sec wait) and everything seems fine...so I tried to recreate the issue/ make the truck die by driving around the local streets and fooling with the heater but no luck.

Has anyone ever experienced this before? Turning on the heat and having the truck just die? I think the Check Engine light came on but I do not know for sure, will have that looked at but if anyone has any ideas...

Thanks,

A couple of ideas. It could just be bad timing. Or you could have a short that is not tripping the fuse and going straight back to the computer shorting it out. But that is a weird one for sure.

Might check your battery out to see if it is good. I have a 99 and if yours is like mine it is picky about battery voltage. Any excess power going to anything other than the essentials will kill it. I had a problem similar to this about a month back, I replaced my battery, Though the battery I replaced had a 11.98 reading my truck still didn't want it. I threw a new battery in and viola everything was back in working order issue hasn't come back since. It would die driving down the road or sitting still was really annoying for the 2 days I put up with it lol
