Default The truck of my dreams was taken away

On October 27 at 4:30am I was rudley awaken by a loud crash. I flue out of bead to see some one hit my Dodge Ram 3500 4X4. I put on some close and ran out side to find the driver walken around delerous. 17 year old kid said he fell asleep driving home. I was on the phone with the police while he was telling me this. he hit my truck with BMW 325i. long story short. his insurance co totaled my truck Tuesday this week. I had the truck for 1.5 years. 27,756 miles. the insurance co is refusing to give me any money for item purchased after I bought the truck new. I had lojack installed at the delear when I bought and they refuse to reimbuse me to the lojack. I called lojack and it is not removable and it tied to the vin number for the life of the truck. I had to pay $358.00 to the body shop + 150 for tow truck to get the truck out of the body shop so I coule remove the camper shell, MBRP 4" exhaust system, H&S programmer, H&S EGR coller delit, H&S boost tube, H&S intake manfold, H&S EGR temp kit and my radio lock pick device. I installed the stock part after removing all the after market parts. The body shop broke the front window on the camper shell and lost the front camera as well. This is the worst days of my life. the insurance co is giving me 49,100 fro the truck. Whitch includes tax and part of my registration. I paid 65,000.00 for the truck. I miss my truck big time. I'm looken for another 2012 Ram 3500, Laramie package, 40,20,40 front seat, 4X4, automatic trans, 6'-4" bed, single rear wheel, No sun roof, prefer gray metalic paint.

I know it looks bad but they totaled it? Shesh.

Good luck finding another truck.. they are out there. Might try Carmax. That way you can look at what is around the states and if they have one get it shipped in to the closest Carmax store.

Edit:

Just looking... http://www.carmax.com/enus/view-car/...zip=37075&No=0

My beloved 79 Plymouth Duster was totaled when I was hit by a Drunk Driver back in 1982.The insurance company did not agree with what I thought it was worth so I asked them to try and find one with the approximate miles and same options and same condition. They found 2 that were more miles and close in options but more money so they ended up giving me the amount I wanted. I then purchased a 1 owner Yellow 74 Challenger Ralley with 32000 actual miles and I still have it sitting the corner of my shop with 64000 miles on it. Book value is just a guide it dosen't take into consideration how hard some vehicles are to find. If you have another vehicle to drive I would hold out on accepting there offer. Challenge them to find you a comparable replacement or find one yourself to prove to them it is worth more. Hope everything works out for you.

That doesn't look like a totaled truck to me that looks like 15k-20k in repairs though (just judging from the pics, if the frame is bent out of shape it could be totalled though) If you know someone from a Body Shop you might be able to have the go look at it and get an estimate on what it would cost ti fix up, and if it is considerably less that what the insurance says it is worth you might be able to buy it back, fix it as good as new, and walk away with some cash (assuming again that the truck is already paid for).

I would do what bedodge said ^^^^, I have done this once before and it worked out for me as well.

Hope all is squared away soon, and sorry to hear about you misfortune, hope you are in another ram soon

thanks
Jeremiah

Default Don't stand for it....

Why is HIS insurance determining this? Maybe each state is different, but in NY "YOUR" insurance handles everything (their own insurance adjuster, cuts the check or pays the body shop) and then they recoup the money from the other drivers insurance company. $16,000 difference - no way would I let that go. I would go after the 17 year old punk's parents who most likely gave little johnny the BMW. Call your insurance company and ask them what the process should be. Doesn't make sense to me at all.
