Question Fuel line question

Hey guy's, hoping someone can help me out...

I have a 2012 5.7L Hemi. The fuel line that connects to the fuel rail is partially steel braided, but only at the ends where it attaches to the fuel rail and at the other end where it attaches to the rest of the fuel lines on the drivers side frame. The entire middle section is the standard plastic/nylon tubing that is used on everything nowadays...My question is why? On the Charger's, Challenger's and Jeeps it is all plastic with plastic quick connect fittings...I want to know if I can remake the entire line with the plastic ends and plastic line.

The reason you ask, I want to add the 392 half covers, but the line connecting to the fuel rail needs to have a 45* connector like it is on the Challenger's and Charger's. On our Rams it is a straight metal connector then the steel braided line which is in the way and will not let the cover sit flush.

I know I'm not going to be able to talk to a Ram engineer, I've put a call into Arrington, but haven't heard back yet. I've also asked my buddy who is a Dodge Tech, with no luck. Just hoping someone has some ideas, the only 2 I can think of are heat related issues, but then why are the Challenger's and Charger's ok, and vibrations maybe?

Help me out guy's, let's see what ya'll got!
