Default Washing & waxing BIG new truck

I'm no stranger to washing & waxing. I've been doing it since I was a boy helping my dad. I have a fairly sizeable fleet here that I like to keep looking good, so I'm well-versed to wash/clay/wash/wax with my trusty power buffer.

We bought the Ram three weeks ago and it was starting to look unclean so I figured it would be a good time to get a coat of winter wax on it. The problem? This thing's BIG. I'm used to Miatas.

I can just barely get the polisher to cover the whole hood, though I bet there are bare spots between the washer nozzles. And I have a Leer 700 hard tonneau with the bump down the middle that echoes the hood bulge. But there's a six-inch-wide strip of dirt down the middle of that which I just could not get to.

I'm not a little guy, and I'm not out of shape (6'0"-165 lbs). My arms are a little longer than average, but I can't figure out how to get to the taller parts of the truck to clean and wax them. What's the secret?

And because I know you guys love pictures, here's the finished product

I'm nearly as tall as you and I have the same problem.

I usually clean my truck in the garage. I have a two step ladder I have to stand on to get the middle of the hood and center of the windshield when I wash/wax it.

Quick and easy solution for me.

Nice truck!

Fixed it for ya

About reaching certain areas, I'm 6'2" average length arms. The hood is not a problem, I do have to really stretch to get the small spot between the wash nozzles right next to the cowl. But I do use a 2 step platform ladder. Its about 2-3' tall and about 4' long. Works great as you have plenty of room to walk around on the platform. Great for reaching the roof of the cab as well.

Nice looking truck BTW...

You're telling me! I'm 5' 10" and I struggle to get those places....thank god for nerf bars and the bed! That's the only way I can reach the roof without getting a ladder out. It's still a real stretch trying to reach the center of the hood and roof though

Same problem for me, solved it with this http://www.griotsgarage.com/product/...urPicks&page=2

Saltier than the work platforms typically found at Home Depot & Lowe's which I almost bought, because they are considerably less in price and certainly solve the problem of height and safety. I ended up going with the above, because it is longer, wider, can raise the height, has electrical connections which I find handy for using my RO and can double as a work bench.

I have my truck in the garage and when I want to wax the hood I put my feet on the tire and put my back against the wall and shimmy my self up and then lean over and rest my hand on the wind shield to wax the hood lol and I'm 6'1!
