Default Pinion Nut Recall Done

Brought the truck to North Broward Chrysler Dodge, in Pompano Beach Florida. Took about an hour and they have enough new parts on hand for the next 100 trucks. No waiting, Not busy at all.

If you need it done and your in the area. This is the place to go.

Default Me too

Glad to here it. Having the rearend rebuilt would have been a beach. I took my truck to Kirkland dodge in wa. today. The pinion nut was to torque specs so they put the retainer ring on and said my truck was in good shape and I left a happy camper. I bought the truck on Dec. 7, it's the color of a pearl and my wife's maiden name is Pearl so she calls it "Pearly". A big step up from the 1984 s-15 I have been driving for 15 years. Dec. 7 1941, Pearl harbor attack, for those who don't remember.

Is vanilla the official color name? It fits it well and easier to say than off white and I would never buy a "cream" color.

I just had mine done this morning and got the same response when I asked what was done. They said the torque was checked and fine so they added a retainer to the nut. I questioned them further and the tech indicated that this retainer has a couple of set screws on it that compresses it against the nut and shaft. Has anyone taken a look to see exactly what this retainer looks like? Just curious.

Lightbulb

I will be crawling under it tomorrow to look at it. It's been raining and I don't like my back wet. I assume it's simple and could be secured by something from a hardware store.

^^^^ This is true which I did a couple of months ago (self inspection). However I suffered for a couple of weeks after that since I dropped the drive shaft in my garage without alot of clearance (very soar arm). It's just too cold right now to inspect it which is why I was hoping someone either witnessed the installation of this retainer or dropped the drive shaft afterwards to take a look. I'm really curious how this thing looks.
