Default In a buy back did you pay the sticker difference

I bought a 2013 that died. They offered a 2014 buy back but I would have to pay the sticker difference. The lemon law people I talked with said I wouldn't pay anything and they'd get me a better deal, but I haven't had to return the 2013 after it was fixed, so they wont touch it. Ok, I took the deal reluctantly - had a set price but in the 3 months to build the truck that price has doubled to 1345 and that's just too much. What are your thoughts please? Anyone experienced this?

Normally they will do MSRP to MSRP. They should also give you credit for the incidentals in your original purchase such as taxes. If they attempt to charge you a mileage fee, the mileage clock should have stopped when you first reported the problem that resulted in the buyback.

Going from a 2013 to a 2014 for $1345 does not sound like a bad deal, and you have still gotten to drive your old truck until the new one arrives.

Most times it is better to resolve an issue and move on with your life, for time is too short to let the negatives fester.

Enjoy your new truck

I just finished the buyback process from a 2013 to 2014. I had to pay the increased sticker price for the 2014 ($940). My dealer worked with ISG to reduce a couple of charges that had gone up like transport to save me about $250. But they would not budge on the higher base price of the new truck.

My 2014 sat on the dealers lot for over 4 weeks while ISG did the paperwork!

I am trying to view the additional cost as increased resale value and a rental truck with free mileage for the 4 months it took to get me in the 2014. However my truck was driveable, it just smelled like it died, and I didn't have to deal with lemon law issues, the dealer took care of it for me.

Best of luck to you but I am afraid that Chrysler will be intractable on the pricing.

Scott

Thanks for documenting the process. May come in handy in the future.

All these seem exactly what I'm getting, MSRP to MSRP. Thanks for the insight. I have the original purchase with a replaced tranny it took 7 weeks to replace, we'll see. But at 3 months to shipment, and the ISG info - I suggest a substantial reduction wouldn't hurt them.

I thought I'd call the dealer and they were in full swing today. He said the truck is scheduled for delivery Dec 16th, it had 2 price increases since ordered, and that they'll file for price protection and keep the price at my quoted price and will start with ISG next week . With that, I'll be working out of town until the 18th and I'll see what happens then.

They offered me the same thing on my 2013. I chose to hire a lawyer, and was happier in the end. I got a 2014 fully loaded for less than I paid for my 2013. Keep in mind you may or may not pay lawyers fees depending on your state. I chalked that cost up as leasing my truck a few month.
