Talking new code

Started my son's 2009 RAM 1500 4wd today and it had a SERV 4WD code come on and stay on. Should I reset the computer before taking it to a dealer or does anyone have any idea why it might be on specific other than somethings wrong. I have worked on my on cars for 30 + years and used code scanners etc. but I am new to the RAM trucks and not sure about everything yet. It has 39000 miles on it, it is a Hemi 5.7 reg cab auto I tried the 4wd recently and it worked fine. Any advice appreciated.

thanks,
Arkansasdave

I wouldn't reset the code until you find the problem. Especially if you plan on taking it to the dealer for them to trouble shoot it. They can't do nothing or find anything without the fault code showing. They will tell you to come back when the code is showing. If you have a tuner you can diagnose it yourself with your tuner. And if you do just remember to set your tune back to stock before you go to the dealer.
