Quality sound is as easy as adding good 3.5's in the dash (btw I left the center one stock), a good quality sub in a good box, and a good amp. Ill be in Gatty in 2014. Hopefully you guys can see how a $250 upgrade to the factory system can slam! I'd highly recommend sound deadening the whole truck interior though.

ttredraider78, surely you aren't saying you did the sub, box, amp and speakers for $250? I just paid close to $200 alone for the Kicker speaker upgrade.
What did you use for a box and amp? Does the sub fit properly under the seat without having to use spacers or lifted up?

I'd like to throw it out there that I just did the Kicker upgrade and I don't notice any reduction in volume. If it were "that" noticeable id have noticed.
Much better sound up front now too.

Default Improving factory Alpine sound?

I bought a refurbished 10" L3 in a Kicker made ported truck box with a refurbished kicker dx250.1 for 199.95 off of eBay. sound domain I believe the place was called. I payed 50 bux for the Polk DBI 3.5's. 250 bud. Ive been tinkering with car audio for 20 years or so. buying factory refurbished shit is or used stuff in good shape is the only way to go. I integrated this setup into the factory 7 speaker alpine setup in my r/t that has the 8.4an. this setup sounds great for what it is excluding the need for dynamat. hell I didn't even have to buy a loc. I just daisy chained the kicker amp off of the factory alpine amp wiring, t-tapped the wire, and turned the wiring into to an rca hookup for the kicker amp. didn't run a remote turn on wire either because the kicker amp has signal sensing tech so it turns on with the rca inputs. I know this all sounds confusing but it was one the easiest system installs ever on a vehicle.

Be CAREFUL with this company! I bought something from them, after a long delay they said it was back-ordered (even though it was listed as in stock when I bought), then after weeks of no response and no shipment I had to file a PayPal dispute to get a refund. A person never responded to any of my emails (I would just get automated responses), and I could not get anyone on the phone.

They have a high rating on ebay, but they also have a ridiculous number of sales - and if you look through the negatives, there are MANY other stories like mine.

Is it a pain in changing out the dash speakers? What is all involved in removing the dash?

Super easy. But why do you want to remove the dash? That would be a major PITA.

Just pop the grills off and unscrew the two little bolts holding each speaker in. Unclip the old factory pieces of crap (and they do like like el cheapo pieces of chit), use an adapter to clip the new one to the factory wiring, drop it back in the hole, replace the two bolts, snap the grill back on.

Done.
