Default Little gifts for the wife

OK, after stealthily picking the wife's brain since August, I know the main things that she would like for Christmas, and they are hiding upstairs. My question here- and I would love the ladies perspective on this- is: what are the little things, aka "stocking-stuffers" that the girls like to receive? My wife loves to be warm in the winter, and I have done the plush robe, arctic house booties, etc. to death. She is also a big Green Bay Packers fan, and I have just about exhausted all of those avenues (save getting an autographed Aaron Rodgers helmet) So.... Any great ideas on little $50 or less gifts that you guys have bought for the wife that they were crazy over? Anything that you ladies suggest?

Your inquiry is valid as my husband racks his brain on this very topic every year as well.

First and foremost: (if she has a diamond ring - which she better Paul!) get a Diamond Dazzle Stick! Great stocking stuffer and most excellent useful gift ever. I happened across this little beauty at Walmart (still sold there too, find it in the jewelry section) a few years ago and I swear by it. It gives a professional cleaning look with the convenience of your own bathroom, kitchen or laundry room sink! She will absolutely LOVE this very thoughtful (and highly practical!) gift. I mean, come on, what woman doesn't want her diamond(s) to sparkle?

Okay, back to your real inquiry (does anyone else think I just sounded like an info-mercial for Connoisseurs?)...

Budget: $50 or less

With any woman, we will be grateful that you even took the time to shop for us... and what's more, step into a shopping mall on our behalf. So, really, we will love anything you give us that appears to have taken any amount of thought. That being said, most women I know are practical (I am not being biased here.. it's a fact).

But, we can also appreciate funny gifts (my husband and I get each other one gag gift each year.. it makes no sense, has no rhyme or reason to it whatsoever.. but it makes the other laugh).

*Funny side story for an example.. while cleaning out my grandparent's house when they moved into assisted living a few years back.. we found a collection of funnels in the garage (apparently Home Depot was just giving the suckers away). End count found was around 60. My hubby joked with my dad that he had no funnels and would like to have a few. My dad agreed.. but we ended up at home with no funnels. Not one. So for Christmas that year, I gave him a funnel set (little did I know he had finally purchased some). We had a good laugh and one of those funnels now lives in my kitchen to pour tea into my travel mug that doesn't fit under my Keurig.

It's little things like that that make a good gag gift. So, think about it.. any little quirky conversations you can remember? Those will always bring a smile and perhaps a giggle on Christmas. Perhaps you had the clan over for Thanksgiving and you ran out of forks cause they'd all been used and not washed yet.. stop by the Dollar Store and give her a box of plastic forks.

Does she collect anything that drives you nuts? I have an unhealthy attraction/obsession with frogs.. my husband razzes me for it all year long, but I'll find frog knee high socks in my stocking.

Does she have a favorite band? Perhaps a CD then? Or what about a movie she adores but doesn't own? (I got Despicable Me - complete with blow-up minion toy(!) - last year in my stocking.)

I don't know a single woman who wouldn't LOVE to find a gift certificate for a massage or a pedi/mani (pedicure is for feet, manicure is for hands) or a facial at the local spa. I can help you out with this one if you decide to go this route.

We love remembering special moments. When you first met, did you ever give her a ring or temporary tattoo from a quarter machine? How about having a picture of the two of you at a special place or on vacation framed?

I have tons more ideas.. but I need to stop for I fear I'll never get to sleep.

Yes, the perfume is always an easy, sure fire gift idea.
And wow.. fuzzy handcuffs.. that thought crossed my mind, but I wasn't sure if I wanted to go there.. thanks GT for bringing it out into the open.

On that note, depending on how.. uhmm.. frisky(?) you are with your wife.. you could do what my husband did for me last Valentine's Day.....

I came home to soft Jazz music playing.. lights dimmed.. rose petal path up the stairs.. on my bathroom counter top I find a basket containing...
- Redi Whip
- Smucker's Hot Fudge (warmed with a spatula in the jar)
- Fuzzy Handcuffs
- A blindfold
- Edible massage oil from Victoria's Secret
and a massager (you know those small plastic ones molded into three feet that can stand on any surface)

The bathtub was nearly overflowing with bubbles topped with rose petals..

In the bedroom I found two champagne glasses filled with.. Bud Light

Not too bad for a romantically-challenged husband.

So maybe a personalized gift basket could work? Personalized with what will be acceptable in your household, of course.

Okay, seriously.. I'm going to go to sleep now...

I've got a good one, she's very much into the car/ truck, (many of my mods were here idea) so finding stuff is usually pretty easy. Sometime before Christmas Eve, I'll head out and make the rounds of all of the auto parts stores.

I'll pick up a couple of micro fiber towels, perhaps a bottle of her favorite detailing spray cleaner, air freshener (what we refer to as "stinky stuff"), and anything else that looks like it will work.

Chocolate. who doesn't like chocolate? it also makes a great stuffer for the stocking.

I'll also usually try to find something cheesy, cheap, and totally useless from one of the dollar stores to throw in there. The options are usually too many to list.

You've give me some good ideas Kai, LOL I had to google the diamond dazzle stick, as I'd never heard of it. She rarely wears her diamond, but I guess it wouldn't hurt to have something to clean it with.

@ stinky stuff! My husband and I call it 'Stink Purdy'... or what my husband likes to say about perfume I'm choosing.. "that rates high on the Peter Meter".

Chocolate is good, but not in excess. We usually buy one bag of the Christmas Hershey Kisses and pour the bag evenly among all the stockings. That is, of course, unless David has been to Germany recently as I always request some German chocolate to return with him. It is decadent.

Another chocolate idea? Buy one of those gigantic Hershey Kisses. Usually sold in a box to protect the thing. These do fit into stockings if you remove the box. Just sayin'

Bill, perhaps your wife would wear her diamond more often if she had an easy way to quickly polish it up? The Dazzle Stik is a dream come true for any woman with diamond(s). You don't even have to take your ring off (although I do highly suggest removing your earrings, lol!). Just click the pen until the blue goo shows at the tip, pass it under cold running water (this activates the goo) and then brush the ring to your heart's content (amaze at all the little bubbly action). Then rinse the ring under cold water and towel it dry. Then for an added appeal, polish it off with a jewelers cloth. The diamond will sparkle and the gold will shine.

This will also last a year.. so plan on tossing one into the stocking every year. I replace mine once a year with about twice a week usage. It fits in a purse, in a glove box, or just about anywhere she may want to carry it. It is THE gift for a wife. Hands down.

I don't know any woman who doesn't like those silver bracelets from Pandora. Then you can buy all kinds of charms for them on other special occasions. I spent seven hundred bux on a bracelet and charms all in one day. But they can easily be bought sporadically.

Just ordered a Diamond Dazzle Stik!

Thanks for the ideas.

For what it is worth. My wife LOVES kitchen stuff. I found a nice wooden salt keeper with 3 bins and a scoop. Then a collection of gourmet salts. I saw her drool over my sister in law's last year.
