Default Seat and steering wheel heat keep coming on

This started a week ago. Almost every time I get in and start the engine, after about 5 seconds, the driver's seat heat and the steering wheel heat come on.
I am used to just turning them off, but it is annoying.

I believe it is automatic when the outside temperature dips below a certain temperature. Mine does this as well but I don't mind because it is cold here. I assume there is a way to disable this feature in the EVIC but I haven't looked.

Whats the outside temperature when this happens?

It is an option and can be turned off in your settings, I think its called "Auto On Comfort" something like that.

Mine starts coming on when it is 0 celcius (32 F for my southern friends) give or take a few degrees.

I will check in the EVIC settings. Auto on is not mentioned in the downloaded manual. Thanks for the answers.

There should be a setting in the EVIC to disable if you so choose...look for something like this...
Auto-On Comfort & Remote Start...
Auto-On Driver Heated/Ventilated Seat & Steering

Wheel With Vehicle Start
When this feature is selected the driver’s heated seat and
heated steering wheel will automatically turn on when
temperatures are below 40 F (4.4 C). When temperatures
are above 80 F (26.7 C) the driver vented seat will
turn on. To make your selection, touch the Auto Heated
Seats soft-key, until a check-mark appears next to setting,
showing that setting has been selected. Touch the back
arrow soft-key to return to the previous menu.

The heated seats/steering wheel come on when the outside temp is below 40*F. I believe the ventilated seats activate at 80*F

I think there's two different settings in play here. One is auto on which is a temperature based setting (mine comes on every time the truck is started with key if the temp is below 40 degrees F), the other is whether it comes one when you use the autostart feature (if you have it).

Both can be adjusted.

Remember there are two manuals for Rams--a shorter/limited one they provide with trucks, and a much bigger one they (for some STUPID reason) they do not provide with new trucks. Some dealers might give you both (smart in my mind, it sure cuts down on calls to the dealer to resolve things that can be answered by reading the big manual!). Otherwise you can get one free online or a hard copy by calling ram support.
