that is OUTRAGEOUS!

even a weekend course is a lot.

don't get me wrong, I'm sure they are informative and every firearm owner should be familiar with what is taught.

even a hunters safety course is just a one day, couple hour thing around here.

shoot, in VA you can get a CCW certification online by watching (or skipping through) a 1 hour video. I watched a youtube video of a girl taking it and passing it and had never even held or seen a real gun in real life.

Im glad it's easy only because I already knew all that stuff from my parents teaching me, but i can see how anti-gunners would have a field day with how easy it is to obtain a CCW certification and know literally NOTHING about firearms. kind of scary

i think it is good especially for kids who want to hunt and maybe their parents aren't that safe with firearms. at least i got to have a possession only to keep my guns.

Holy crap. It is 6 hours to get a C&C in Minnesota. When I went to renew my permit to purchase at the police station they told me up to 21 days depending on my record. Less then 24 hours later they called to say it was ready to be picked up.

You can get a CC in Ontario. But you have to be involved with the police and in special security such as Brinks or any money moving Security company. As for a average joe getting one good luck. You have a better chance at getting into the Premiers seat. ( our version of the sate senator )
I took both the hunting and the gun course. Both courses are a facking joke, and I'm not kidding. Yes there is some really cool and informative facts with in the course that could be summed up in one afternoon. Both courses were a Friday 6-10pm and a Saturday from 8am-4pm. Most of what is taught is simple stuff. This is stuff that kids know.
The hunting course was a little better then the gun course, the hunting course is not as boring and they actually teach you a few things that help in tracking and finding animals in the bush. The gun course is 10 hours of BS and 2 hours of actual gun training.
I have a crossbow and got my first turkey in the spring thanks to a guy calling in the bird, even with a crossbow that can kill an animal as large as a moose you DO NOT need any kind of check, license, or anything to buy. A pellet or air rifle, hand gun is considered a firearm but as long as it shoots under 5ooft per second you are not required to have a license.
How ever all weapons including those mentioned must have a trigger lock on them at all times and must not be anywhere near the ammo.
And don't pull either on anyone or you will get a big PEEPEE slap from the local police man and a nice fine and most likely loose your licenses and your guns.

After my posts in this thread, I sat back and read the subsequent responses. I had no idea that Canada had more stringent gun laws than the U.S. The most disturbing to me, was the one which stated there would be a problem with you shooting someone dead who had broken into your home with the intent of malice. An intruder successfully suing for injury? Madness. You break into my home, and you can expect a shotgun blast. Was that HDTV and $125 in cash worth it now? See you in Hell, douchebag.

my thoughts exactly. My home is mine, not yours.

But we American folk might as well get used to these laws considering this is how we will be in a few years!!!

Im all for Gun safety, but not gun control.

man thats some crazy info right there! ive been meaning to look into some of the gun laws. i work as a security guard right now as im going to school and i'm at an armed site so for Missouri all i had to do was take a 8 hour ccp class to be certified to carry a gun at work. my only issue with the class was they make you practice with a .22 and at work i get a 9mm and a shotgun, both of which i have never been trained with or fired. but my work payed for me to take the $120 class plus i got 8 hours pay so now all i would have to do is switch my Illinois license over to a Missouri one and then turn in the paper work with about $100 bucks i believe and then i would be able to buy and conceal carry a firearm
