Default 2003 Ram 1500 front axle shaft -- HELP!!

Hello all,

Newbie here. CV joint snap ring came loose and ended up stripping the cv axle and the axle shaft. So figured this would be a easy fix as I have done many cv's etc but....

Having trouble pulling my front drivers side axle shaft. I know there is a snap ring on the inner side and that is what is giving me trouble.

The cv axle is already off the truck as is the diff cover. I was hoping to be able to get behind the thing and push it out but it's still stuck. I went to get a slide hammer but noone seams to have a attachment that will grab the shaft for that to even be able to be used.

I called Dodge service dealer and they said they usually go in from behind and push it out with by hand. I call BS on the entire hand thing , that snap ring will not allow that.

Truck is down and in pieces now. I am at my wits end and need this fixed tonight.

Any suggestions?

Well called Dodge again and spoke to a mechanic. Explained the situation and he said "yeah, good luck with that" I was like wtf and he explained that the axle shaft can cease in there and that the pin has a tendancy to do the same thing. Said he once had 2 trained techs work on one for 2 days before giving up and telling the customer they had to replace the entire assembly.

I am not ready to give up just yet but am hitting my breaking point. There is two ways of getting this damn thing off and something is going to work....

Please if anyone has anything let me know

He did say that it's not me. Which is a good and bad thing. I would of rather him say dude there is this little clip dumbass. At least then the truck would be back together already.

Welded a bar to the axle shaft. Put a junk rim on the vette and left side up. Attached a rope, crossed fingers and hit the gas. Screw Dodge it came out!!

Hope noone else has this issue cause they won't get any help anywhere. Especially here......
