Default First oil change today.

At odometer reading of 3530 miles and 8 months old I had my first oil change done at the dealer. It was going to be $35 but the guy in charge of oil changes had a $10 off coupon he applied to the bill. So I ended up paying $25 out the door.

Here is the weird thing. I didn't think of this until later but they had a oil change package of 4 oil changes for $63 as long as they were used in two years. It would not make sense for me to buy it since the coupon was only good for the single oil change. However, four oil changes at $15.75 each is pretty cheap. I wouldn't need to change my oil four times in two years but it would be cheaper in the long run

Now here is the kicker that hit me when I was half way home. He said the package was good at ANY Chrysler dealer. Since I find it hard to believe my local dealer has the power to come up with sales or coupons every dealer in the US and Canada has to honor, it stands to reason this can be purchased at any Chrysler dealer.

So, those of you saying you are paying $40-$50 for an oil change might want to bring this up at your dealer.

I didn't buy my truck at my local dealer, but I do get my services done there. I asked them if they had any "plans" or deals for oil changes. I get 6 oil changes and 4 tire rotations for $120, and as stated above, they have to be used in a 2 yr period. Pretty good deal if you ask me and still costs way less than buying the oil and filter at the store and doing it myself. This is for regular Dino oil and mopar filter though. I know a bunch of guys run synthetic, would probably cost more for that. Ask your dealers!

Synthetic costs a lot more. I get synthetic and haven't tried the 4 in 2 years package, but my dad does in his '09-he uses dino. As far as I know, when you buy it then it goes into the computer system and you can get them done at any dealer, and several dealers send us the coupons. Dad bought the first one at Fiesta Dodge, and got the last 1 or 2 of the changes done at Ancira, so it should be true for y'all too.

My service is free at my dealer for the first two years, (basically oil changes). They have the same type of deal, I'll prob buy it when my free service period is up, they didn't know what they were getting into with my driving, I've had the truck since Sept 1st, 10k miles third oil change this morning,...they may have to rethink the free changes for those of us that do some driving..lol. My dealership also has a lifetime power train warranty that goes with every vehicle purchased from them, new or used. Covers tranny and all lubricated parts of engine as for the original purchaser no mileage limit, no time limit
