Depends. If you are buying new your dealer will take care of that for you. If you buy used have the seller throw in the whole wd hitch. They are adjustable and you will set the drop down where you need it.

Hello, I only bought my Ram before Christmas & not towed yet. Looking forward to using the OEM controller, I have the 5.0 Uconnect radio and was playing around in the trailer section. But I guess I have to wait untill I have trailer hooked up to the truck to do the set up. Did pick Trailer #1- use this trailer & it shows "electric light". have not seen where you can mane the trailer yet. I have a 2011 KZ 261RK and loaded would be around 6700lbs and use an Equalizer WD hitch. My old 2003 1500 QC towed this very well. Is the set-up (not the gain setting) easy to go through. Dealer really doesn't know any thing about it.

Thnaks

Any camper other than a tent trailer almost certainly have a 2-5/16 ball and should use a weight distributing hitch. Hitch height of the camper will determine what dropdown you will need, all WDH's that I've seen are height adjustable but you should still measure the hitch height of the camper (with the camper level), the height of your receiver tube (with your truck empty) and take those measurements to an RV or hitch place to ensure you get one that is suitable. There is no 'standard' height for camper hitches.

This is very good advice. I just switched from a Tahoe to a Ram. The Ram is taller and the wd hitch doesn't have enough drop. The result is either the front of the TT is high or the rear of the truck is low. I'm in the market for a new shank.

The factory brake controller is much superior to the prodigy I had in the Dakota. Having the controller integrated through the EVIC is just sweet! This summer we took a trip from Albuquerque (home) to Portland, OR. Total was 5,000 miles, and covered some flat areas and lots of hills. I found it towed fine not in tow/haul mode in full auto & using cruise on the flats & using tow/haul helped alot in the hilly areas. In neither instance did it hunt for gears.
Tell me how was setting up the factory brake controller? I have not hooked up the camper yet (too much snow) but hope to in the next few weeks. In the 5.0 radio I see where you pick the trailer & type of brakes, but have not seen where you can give it a name. Once set-up does it always show in the EVIC? and what info does if give you? Can't wait to tey it out......come on spring!!!

Thanks

I don't think you can give the trailer a name. I did saw that in the F150
