Default Removing top Dash panel

So when my truck was in for service a few months ago when I went to pick it up the dash cluster cover was cracked right across the middle.
They fixed it, but since then there has been a small rattle in the middle of the top Dash section, the "leather looking " piece that's almost the width of the truck. Can someone tell me how to pull this off to fix the problem?
I don't want to ask them to do it and have something else go wrong....

I would think that you could find the rattle by pulling out the radio

It is a simple job if you don't have a floor console
If you do have that console, it is a little more involved

I do have the floor console. Does that top section come off alone?

I've got pretty much the same rattle that you describe. I've been hesitant to ask the dealer about it as I, afraid they'll create more rattles trying to solve this one :s

That top piece your speaking of does not come off separately, I am pretty sure you have to pull the whole dash to get it off and since the airbag is under it I am pretty sure you don't want to mess with it.

You can try to remove the radio and bezel assembly, this will give you access to that area inside the dash as stated above.

with the full floor console
lift the rubber mats in the cup holders & the 2 trays, some of them will have screws under them, if you have a rectangular chrome ring, it is just held in by clips, you can pop them using a plastic trim tool
There may be 2 screws that are at the front sides on the top piece, i have not looked for them on mine, they may be hidden under the plastic pieces directly below the radio fascia

Anyway, after you have the top of the floor console loose, open the lid for the larger arm rest in the floor console. Now you should be able to slide the whole top of the floor console back enough to remove the radio fascia
Except for some Rams that have the 115 vac plug that has a screw holding it in, the rest of the fascia just unclips, you should use the plastic trim tool to remove it.
Now you can get to the 4 screws that hold the radio in

I may have missed something, hopefully someone will correct me if i did

I saw it somewhere on one of the different forums or on youtube

Yes please, the 115 volt plug screw. How do you get to it? Anything I pull and pry on seems about to break before it comes loose.
Thank you.

Everything is tight and you have to pull hard to remove things. Just pry it from two sides and work it back and forth. The bezel itself you will have to pull hard on, start from the bottom and break it loose than work your way up, one side at a time. Don't be surprised if it suddenly pops off on you.

Thanks. I poked around some more on the site and I got it off and the install done yesterday. Getting these things done without marking up the plastic is a chore, isn't it specially when you are more or less winging it. Thanks for getting back to me.

I recently rearended a little Dakota hard enough to blow both my airbags... I was into the bodyshop to check out the progress the other day & it's looking great but I'm worried about the guys doing the airbag replacement messing up interior panels taking all this stuff apart to get at the bags. Fingers crossed I guess...
