the figures are transport canada figures and are stantard for everyone. on different vehicles i have gotten what was advertised. i think they test at 80 or 90 kph and i don't think wind is a factor. if there is no wind and you drive 90, you would be surprised what you can get. (55 mph or so)

I can't stand seeing the purposefully misleading advertising for RAM re: MPG here in Canada.

Yes, 36 imperial mpg may be the technically accurate term.. but noone up here thinks in imperial mpg.. only in metric l/100km or in US MPG.

The pentastar v6/3.21/2wd/etc/etc/etc/etc model is rated at 25 us mpg. I can definitely believe this as possible on all highway at 65-70mph max. My 2wd/quad cab/4.7L/3.55 very easy gets 20mpg at 70mph and has done on several trips as good as 22/23 mpg at 65-70mph. Fairly rare(a couple trips over 85k miles), but it has done it. Average driving mostly city is about 17mpg. That's way above the sticker.

Still, I wouldn't expect 25mpg as anything except the best you'll ever see.

The 2013 HFE (3.6/8-spd/2WD/3.21/17"/RCSB) tested 35.5 & 35.2 mpg US on the EPA Highway test (unadjusted, raw data).
The 4-door V6 2wd 3.21 17" trucks are just behind at 34+ highway (raw).

IF you can drive "the cycle" (very conservative accel's, 48 mph average, 60 mph max speed)
THEN you will get VERY IMPRESSIVE fuel economy.

A contributor on Clean MPG tested a '13 HFE and got 36+ mpg US on one test loop.
Great write up on the 3.6/8-spd HFE there...

Search for "EPA test car list" to find the raw fuel economy data,
altho its a confusing format...

If you drive it like you stole it, then nope, I agree you will never get those numbers. But if you drive consistently conservative with the 3.0L Eco Diesel, RCSB 2WD, 8Speed with 3.21, then hell yes you can. With my Hemi 3.55 4x4 CC, I'm extremely happy with 16mpg city/hwy mix. 19-21 all hwy @ 72mph, no head wind. Done it too many times.

The small print says 11.4L/100km city, 7.8L/100km highway (which is US 20.63/30.16 mpg) using standard Canadian government testing. It's unclear where this was marketed but it would only be fraudulent if it was marketed intentionally in the US market. Is there anything to suggest that? Of course once it's on youtube anybody in the world can see it.

I'm guessing the Canadian tests give higher results than the US EPA methods? The stop/start should not affect highway mileage so they must be driving slower?

As to how realistic the government methods are, I have a 2013 VW Passat TDI rated by EPA at 31mpg city and 43 mpg highway. I use it mostly on the highway, and after initial break-in my overall numbers are 49mpg (was over 50 before winter hit), and have never gotten a tank under 40. Admittedly, I am a careful driver but I don't go into extreme hypermiling techniques.

I did a trip the other day and I got 9.8 l/100km which works out to 28(imp) mpg.

It is not THAT far away for the V6. I have 2200miles on mine now (3500km) and I do a lot of highway, however, I have my fair share of stop and go Toronto traffic and grocery shopping. This is my dd and I face stop and go traffic every morning and afternoon in and from work. I am currently at 20.8mpg (11.3l/100km), driven normally, I would say not as aggressive as my previous sedan. I also tend to obey the speed limit more nowadays, I am in a giant red truck rolling down the highway, hard to miss. I have the V6, CC, 3.55 with a tonneau cover and the 17" Silent Armour tiers, which are more aggressive than stock tires. With normal stock tires I could probably break 22-23 mpg (10.5ish l/100km), same driving conditions. Note, this my average and I have never reset my counter since I got the truck.
It went much better after the weather warmed up a bit.
