Default How do you launch your truck?

Hey guys i was wondering how every one launches their truck at the track? i just have the stock 3.55s and when i do run im still on the stock 275/60's. I just got the bully dog tuner and have been doing some test and my trap speed has gone up but im still running the same times as when the truck was stock, 9.4s and 9.5s. How can I this thing off the line? Thanks for the info in advance.

On my 2005 that I no longer have I would burn the tires a bit before getting to the line (makes them sticky), then stage at the lane. I would load the engine by holding the brake and getting the RPMs between 2k-2500. When the light goes green or the flag drops release the brake and punch it!

If you don't mind some work before, when you're in the pits.
An old drag racers trick on a rear wheel drive vehicle is to take the top rubber washer off your front shocks, and re-install just the nut and steel washer loosely.
This lets the front end come up an inch or more instantly, before it hits the shocks resistance and front end rise rate slows.
Helps transfer the weight onto the rear tires faster.
Might not do much ,but it doesn't cost anything to experiment with either
Only do at the track though,re-install the rubber washer and tighten the nut back down when you hit the street again

I ran my quickest time the other night, a 9.3 with a 2.3 60ft. I have ran a 2.1 60ft before but ran a 9.4. My launches are getting better I'm just trying to find the sweet spot with this new tuner. I launched it around 2k the other night and it just blew the tires off, that is always fun. If can do that with some traction I will be good.

Doing a burnout on street tires just wastes rubber. They won't get hot enough to give any noticeable traction. Street tire compounds are designed to run cool. They are an "A" temp rating....you would need something like slicks or drag radials with a "C" rating

stalling up the motor will kick in torque management (I pedal at green), 275/60's and 3.55's are a bad combo for the track, if your running streets, lower tire pressure to 23-35 lbs..don't burnout on streets, maybe a few rotations to clean tires but don't smokem up..

i read somewhere that the street tires will actually create an oily film on the rubber when doing a burnout that will be detrimental to traction at the track.

If you're on street tires just chirp them, you don't need to do a burnout, you just want to remove any loose rocks/grit from your rubber, not for traction, but the less of that stuff on the track the better for the higher power guys, it's more of a courtesy thing.

Bringing the RPMs up before launch will almost always pull timing as the traction control kicks in, unless you can completely (almost) disable it using a programmer. The best way to launch these trucks with traction control is to stage with a foot on the brake and hover over the accelerator, then just punch it on the second yellow while releasing the brake. My best 0-60 times used this method on an open diff 4wd QCRB before I started disabling the traction control.

The best way to get better launch times with your combo would be to get a much shorter tire. Those tires with a 3.55 diff are just killing you.

about 2100 was my best spot as far as street.. if I could get the tires sticky 2500 is a great launch imo
