Default Lean misfire help

Hello all. I am in need of some help. I have a 11 ram 5.7 with 6.4 cam. 2 month ago my truck started having a p0302 misfire code. I changed all the plugs. It went away and then came back. So I changed the swapped 2 and 4 coil and injector still no change.( I didn't check compression because the cylinder is still hot when I put water on the header tubes.) < Is this a accurate statement? The truck will idle rough early in the morning but will clear up as I start driving.

A new problem is now starting were the truck will stall early in the morning when it is cold. If I drive for awhile the truck will drive just fine. Every now and then it would stall after a trip down the interstate but its rare.

A little background that may help. The first time I tried the cam install I broke the rocker arm shaft and bent a pushrod. I drove the truck 100 miles with the rocker arm broke and the tops of the valve stems are rather beat up.

So question number 1 is

1. Do I need to check compression
2. Is there a chance I have bent valve or leaky valve? An how do I Check them?

Thanks

Has hemifever looked back at the tune? Any chance of a vaccum hose being loose or fallen off? AIT sensor? Interestingly, I just had a spartan plus installed in my 05 and at first, it hated cold weather, it would stall unless I kept my foot on the gas for 30 seconds or so. My dyno tuner (TDP in Steuben,Maine) told me to bring it back for a tweak to the tune. A couple of cold days, down to -8F and the ECM has learned the cam, it runs perfect now. Adaptive learning. As far as screwing up the valves, hmm, I'd be checking the compression and I'd think about replacing that peened valve. BTW, TDP welds in a bung for a wideband and data logs, sends to hemifever for adjustment, then we dyno and datalog until the a/f ratio and knock retard among other criteria make us happy.

It's a possibility you have a bad lifter. I've done 6 trucks this year that have had lifters go bad. The truck will have an engine noise if it is the case.

I don't have any engine noise that seems out of place. The truck runs great as long its moving. Its only running rough at idle and while cold. If it was something with the valve train shouldn't there be a sign? Is it possible that a o2 sensor could be stuck rich or lean causing my problems?

I am planning to contact Sean but I wanted to ensure I didn't have a mechanical issue. I was planning to check compression today but its raining pretty bad here so no go. But since the header tube is still hot like all the others isn't that a sign there is no valve train issue?

are you able to datalog? do you have a scanner or diablo that can log af ratio while at idle or when it's close to stalling out?

Yes I have the trinity. What should I be looking for in the logs? I usually watch the fuel trims, o2s, MAP and several other things.

Id lean away from the O2 sensor as you would probably get a code. all the trucks ive seen pretty much loose a cylinder and it shows a misfire. from what your saying it sounds like your lifters are ok

its kinda hard to diagnose a vehicle without it infront of me

what numbers are your fuel trims look like at idle or specifically when it's about to stall out...

my guess is that at idle the pcm is dumping fuel because of the cam and lt headers...any kind of hesitation will throw a misfire code..
