Default slap shift?

Hey guys, I'm just wondering what the point of the manual gear selector is for? Every time i ask someone they say..."racecar" ... Is is bad to use it for normal every day driving?

Nope....I use it everyday to drop out of MDS mode. It doesn't shift like a slapstick auto setup.....that 3rd gear is lame. Push the tow/haul button and the shift points are firmer......no need to shit manually.

Now you see, the title is misleading.

"Slap Shift" is how I was taught to drive a by my . I learned pretty quick.

I apologize. I was just being me. I really don't know, but the title caught my attention enough that I had to read it.

However it is a valid question because neither one of us know, so it was well worth asking. Is it Slap Shift..Paddle Shift?

Anyone know the correct terminology?

I think the term "Sport Shifter" is the description used for today's left/right automatic shifters. I could be wrong though. I know when I use mine around town, I leave it in 4th, then when I get onto the freeway on ramps, I back hand or thumb to the right to get into 5th for you 545RFE guys or 6th for the 65RFE guys. I don't use normal mode much at all, unless I really want to test my MDS out. Other than that, it's manual shifting mode for me. Keeps the mind sharp. LOL!

I use mine pretty much only when I have to stop fast/ slam on the brakes. I've used it a few times when accelerating, but I figure I'll drive my Honda if I wan to shift manually, it's at least got a clutch

Technically, it is called Electronic Range Select (ERS). Won't hurt to use it all the time if you want to.

ERS actually only limits the maximum top gear that's available, so you can use it to force a downshift, but it will not force an upshift (beyond whatever the normal shift pattern calls for).
