Default Factory Undercoating Questions

I recently picked up a 2014 Ram 1500. I went with the factory paint protection/rustproofing/undercoating package from the dealer. But when I peeked underneath the truck to check it out, it appears that they only applied the undercoating/rustproofing along the frame. Should I have expected more coverage than that, especially since no annual inspection is required to keep up the warranty?

Also, in addition to the factory rustproofing, I may go with an aftermarket Krown-type application as well. Will doing this affect the existing warranty on the factory rustproofing?

Thanks.

I have the dealer applied factory coating on mine, and it covers pretty well the whole bottom of the truck.
I was very pleased with my dealers application.
I bought my truck in a small farming town with basically nothing but gravel roads around the town.
One of those towns where everybody knows everybody, lol
Wonder if where the dealer is located might dictate how well it's applied.

I would expect near total 98+% coverage for 'optional' undercoating,
especially for the $$ they charge for the service...

Hemi HFE nailed it.

Hemi i was back home last week-end so i stopped by the local Dodge dealer to see if they still had the HFE model like yours, but it must be sold as it wasn't on the lot anymore.
But with your truck and that truck, there's at least 2 in existance

Not all of them do it the same apparently. When I had my 1500 I had the factory undercoating done. I was not at all impressed with the job they did. Overspray on things that shouldn't have had it, missed lots of areas that should have. It just wasn't that great... So when I bought my 3500 I didn't waste my money getting that done by them. I figure if I'm going to get it done I'll just do it myself or get an aftermarket company to do it for a better job.

I just got my truck Krowned today. They did a great job. I don't think there is a sq cm that isn't covered. The only problem is it's dripping everywhere... LOL I've got some pics. But with the Snowpocalypse happening here tomorrow, I probably won't get to cleaning the truck properly until Saturday.

if possible, park not eh road for at least a week.

it is going to drip for a while.

i also recommend throwing a coat of wax on the truck before getting it krown'd because it will seep for a long time. sometimes better to have the wax on first!

you will not be disappointed with Krown though!

Yeah, too late for the coat of wax, unless you count the spray crap at the touchless car wash.
And right now, the Krown stuff is frozen. We have street parking ban due to the snow (or will have tomorrow) so in the driveway it is for now.
I wish I had been smart enough to Krown my previous vehicles. Probably would have saved me thousands in repairs over the years.
