Default BROKEN!!! in?

When do you guys, with the HEMI, believe that it is comfortably "broken in"?

With today's engineering and manufacturing technologies, I don't believe new vehicles need to be "broken in" like they did 30 or 40 year ago(or longer). That being said, there are many people that still do this. You will get varying opinions on how many miles and driving techniques. I bought mine new and started using it and I drive it the same now as I did then. Cheers!

at about the 5,000 mile mark, you will be getting your best MPG
Ram says that you should not do heavy towing until the Ram has 500 miles on it

so i have to say that it is broke in at 500 miles

I've been getting my best MPG so far here lately with just over 9000 miles on it. I average about 18.5 now.

ETA: Thunderhorse now has 9143 miles on her, 9135 of which I have been behind the wheel

i have heard these engines are broken in at the factory. and the 5oo mile wait time for towing is for the trans and rear end to break in. no idea if this is true or not. my own experience is no change in mpg pr performance since i bought my 11 new with 7 miles on it.

I would say around 40,000kms. Mine idles so smoothly now sometimes I can't even tell it's running when I'm sitting at a stop light. 500rpms bang on and smooth as silk. Never noticed that before until the past couple of months.

Merry Christmas.

They say there is no break in period, its done at the factory. I still went easy on the first 1000 miles tho.

I agree, Ed. My dealer told me I could mash the gas right off the lot if I chose to do so, but I was easy on it for about 500 miles or so. But when I did stomp on the gas in my little regular cab Hemi, Oh man was I happy!
