I don't want to bake the lights in order to do projectors. I have done that on imports before and it took about 45 minutes to bake, pull apart, and spray because they have a putty/silicon type sealant. I will never take apart factory headlights on our trucks again. It is a p.i.t.a. because they use an epoxy type sealant. It was a headache.

Arth,

The adaptor plate sounds good. In a perfect world I would pay a company such as this to work on a new light housing - opening it up, blacking it out, tinting the signal and lower leds, installing the new projector and then shipping it to me, after which I send them my stock unit, obtain a partial refund for it and do NOT lose any down time on the RAM.

That would rock.

I have done this with the retroshop. I only have to pay shipping for the lights, which we used his fedex account so shipping the lights was $25 a trip... reasonable.

Then once the cores were with me I pulled mine, sent them off, and popped the cores in until the work was done.

Honestly shoot an e-mail to retroshop and put in your request. I would be very surprised if he can't meet them.

You can choose to have someone else do it for you.

JJ at the retro shop did a set for my 2012 Ram Express with Dual headlights. He used the aftermarket housings he sells and made a complete projector/hid kit. I just removed my stock lights and installed his setup with harness. Best money I ever spent.

Do you have a photo? Just wondering what his housings look like when done.

Thanks

I checked out their website. $730 is a bit steep for some headlights in my opinion.

To each his own, right?

For myself quality tires, and uber lighting are paramount to my safety. I find the stock lighting lacking as many do, and when it comes to a solution, within reason (again subjective) I'll balance that cost against the outcome of hitting a deer on the way home.

Which will equate to :

* Possible injury depending on whether I hit a 200 lb deer, or 1200 lb moose.

* dealing with insurance companies

* time lost at work (potentially)

* Walking for 5 hrs in the dark to get home because there is no cell coverage on 50% of my commute home. In -35 climes (todays daytime temp!) in the winter.

So I'll be proactive vs defensive. Lighting upgrades VS armour.

That's simply my own philosophy. Your mileage will vary.

Cost of improved lighting? $730. Cost of the above events happening? Death by exposure, trauma, wolves, cougars etc

JJ has a lot of options, go to his web site and check out the custom light gallery. I originally checked into converting to quads or 13 projectors like arth has. Decided to go with stock duals done like asur.

Default Projector .vs. HID

Please... whatever you decide, just don't put a drop-in HID kit into the standard sealed beam headlights. They just don't belong in those whatsoever. HID's are only ever in a projector.
The stock 2013 halogen projectors are still not meant for an HID but it's a step closer if your not prepared to go all out and have a set retro'd.

I really wish the police around here would start cracking down on all the people running around here with the brightest HID kits they could slam into they're conventional sealed beam headlights. They're just terrible in my opinion (and this really is just my opinion).
