Which will equate to :

* Possible injury depending on whether I hit a 200 lb deer, or 1200 lb moose.

* dealing with insurance companies

* time lost at work (potentially)

* Walking for 5 hrs in the dark to get home because there is no cell coverage on 50% of my commute home. In -35 climes (todays daytime temp!) in the winter.

So I'll be proactive vs defensive. Lighting upgrades VS armour.

That's simply my own philosophy. Your mileage will vary.

Cost of improved lighting? $730. Cost of the above events happening? Death by exposure, trauma, wolves, cougars etc
Everything about this i fully stand behind, lights are your eyes for everything once the sun goes down and not only is it for your safety but everyone elses on the road. after going to a good set of hid projectors that $700 will seem like pocket change for such a vast improvement in vision

however, it does kinda put a damper on my urge to install HID's in my factory projector lights... i can wait.

The HID conversion kits for your conventional halogen headlamps are actually rated for strictly offroad use anyway if you want to go hid go projector at least you won't blind oncoming traffic that way and risk someone swerving into you

I posted a pic of my truck a couple of days ago. Go check it out. The only reason I'm considering HID is to get back to a stock level of brightness. The aftermarket headlights I bought actually have the lenses tented, I'm not happy about that, so it's hard to see. I don't think a 6K HID would blind people with the lenses tinted as dark as they are.

When I am in the market for them, I just hope I can find a plug and play set of headlights. I'm not into cutting into harnesses and so on... If this was a hobby truck and not a daily driver, I'd be more up to "playing".

You'll be blinding people even with the slightly tinted lenses. Look at the difference between the hid in a stock lense compared to a projector. A slight tint isn't going to do much for that glare that other drivers will have in their eyes. If you care about other drivers ask yourself if you'd rather see the light on the right coming at you or the light on the left coming at you.

Hey, I know this is a selfish plug but I have some brand new 2009-2012 quad headlights retrofitted by the retroshop with the Morimoto Mini H1 HID Projectors for sale. I bought them for my 2009 but ended up buying a 2013 sport... Message me and I'll give you my phone number if you're interested.
