Default 2013 6.7 cold air intake AFE power

Hello all,

Just got my new 2013 2500. First ram diesel and I love it.
I just recently bought the afe cold air intake stage 2 dry filter. It was a very easy install. Makes the front end of the truck sound much better, especially when the exhaust brake comes on!

Does anyone have any reviews on this system and does anyone know what exhaust system I can put in to make the rear sound good? I can't seem to find one.

Thanks

One problem with aftermarket exhausts for the new diesels is all the smog crap that you have to remove. If I owned a new Cummins, I'd rip it all off and make it scream, but I'm in Maine, no smog testing and I'd forego the warantee. I run gutted cats on both of my hemis and have Daiblo tune out the rear O2 sensors for an "Off Road Tune", wink wink. I'd probably pick up a Diesel World magazine and check out some of the builds and what the owners did. Make sure NY state emissions won't screw you up.

If you don't have to deal with emission testing I would pick up a 4" turbo back exhaust, but you will need something to clear codes (H&S, EFI Live, SIM's etc). Flo Pro and MBRP are popular systems. I am running a 4" Diamond Eye system and I am very happy with it.
You can go with a filter back exhaust but you're going to pay 2x as much (vs full system) and you probably won't gain much if any sound.

Emissions are definitely an issue. It seems the only thing available is a filter back system which seems is for cosmetics only. Lame. After talking to my local truck shop, Banks apparently have this system as a top priority to release something soon. The hole deleting thing is not for me. Not looking to void the warranty.

There is an issue with the 2013 diesels. It comes with the DEF (diesel exhaust fluid) and being that the epa had a sh$t fit about the DPF EGR removals tuning stopped. I don't think the 13+ diesels can be tuned for emissions removal and theres still the DEF. As for the CAI, to each his own and I'm sure it does help the sound but as for performance the 6.7 stock intake is about as good as you can get until you are reaching the strictly track trucks pushing 900+ hp and 1200+ torque

I agree. And the DPF back exhaust systems offer no gain in performance or sound. Purely cosmetic. You can save a lot of money and accomplish the same thing by just adding a nice exhaust tip! LOL
Even though my Ram is deleted, it's not any louder than it was stock. These engines are just quiet. The only way to get any sound is to delete and add a 5 inch turbo back exhaust.
