Default 2014 RAM 2500 6.4 questions??

Hi All,

Does anyone know the avg MPG city and highway of the 6.4L Hemi? Would like to get a new Ram 2500HD Crew Cab short box, and wondered how they are going to be fuel mpg wise? A Cummins would be nice, but the $11,000 premium could be a deal killer for me.

Thanks,

Will

I test drove one over night with a 6.4 bed and put about 110 miles on it about half and half hwy and regular roads and the computer said I only got 12.9 mpg.

Default 2014 RAM 2500 6.4 questions??

I bought mine a week ago and am getting right around 14 mpg. That's mainly in town driving. Haven't had a chance to get it out on the highway yet. 2500 crew cab short bed 4x4. In comparison my 2012 1500 crew cab got right around 16 mpg with the 5.7

I said this before and I'll say it again, don't ask for mpg on a 3/4 ton truck 4x4 with a 6.4 liter engine, your buying that truck for power and it's cheaper than the diesel. You want mpg buy a friggin prius,

A Friggin prius won't haul anything but my arse around and some of us need a vehicle to haul things and as low budget as we can.

If you don't need a truck then buy a friggin prius.

I am glad that were starting to see some realistic posts on the 6.4l Hemi in the 2500hd. I am very interested in the real use of the truck and that includes any MPG information. As for MPG, sure it is going to suck gas, but like others it may just be a real alternate to a diesel for us that do not need a diesel or want to deal with one.

I currently drive a GMC Sierra 4x2 crew cab 2007 with a 6.0l which gets about 12 around town and 10 towing our 26' Jayco Trailer (proably 7,000lb loaded) It has a 365hp with 373ftlb torque so I am very interested with the increase the new 6.4l Hemi would give me.. My guess, even 50 ftlb torque would help when I go to a 4x4.

I actually was hoping that GMC would bring in their 460lftlb 6.2ltr engine in their 2500 but those idiots are keeping it in only a 1500.. what a waste!

Our local dealer does not have a 6.4 on the lot yet and does not have one on order so, I'm going to have to hunt for one...

In the set up we are looking for the difference from the 6.4 hemi and a diesel would be a saving of close to $6,000 and with that makes a big difference given I don't need the 30,000 pull capacity of a diesel :-)

So, I'd love to see this thread grow with others getting the 2500 HD with the 6.4.. I already know about the diesel.. I want to know more about the Hemi Gas and medium load towing (7,000-9,000 lbs).. Thanks in advace for any posts..
