Default H I D Headlights - - Pro and Con ? ?

I need to do something about my 2012, SLT 1500, headlights.

Talked to the dealer today, about installing a HID kit. I have no skills to install myself. Kit cost is $175, and labor is $358.95..whew.

Anyway, I am looking for input as to both the pros and cons of doing this.

Thanks for any input.

Balloo

If they warranty it and install them properly, it may be worth the money?
I've kinda been glancing around at replacement headlights for my 2014 quad headlights... and I'm seeing around $450/headlight - not installed, but these are full replacements, not just bulbs (though not sure if wiring harnesses are needed or not, haven't looked THAT closely yet.)
Proper headlights should come on all vehicles and the stock quad lamps really aren't bright enough IMHO. Going to be a big expense to rectify it...

I had HIDs in my truck for about 4 weeks and they only worked half the time... Lights cut out a few times and were flickering so ended up replacing a capacitor and was good for another week then they quit completely so...... I grabbed the side cutters and cut the harness out of my truck and put the stock back in... $180 in the garbage pail probably would never do that again

Your truck shouldn't be too hard to install them on. Watch some YouTube videos and decide from there if you think you'll be able to install them or not. It's a lot cheaper that way.

I installed Mazlux HID's in my lows and fogs and never tried anything to install HID's before. Lots of research on how to install them, lots of threads here to help. Think it took 2-3 hours overall to install all 4 lights.

Probably one of the best mods to my truck.

Pros
More light output and a light temperature that is more useable to the eye compared to halogen.

Twice the service life of halogen.

Cons
Cost

Need projector lamps, this is a big one./ Putting HIDs in a conventional lens will blind on-coming drivers.
