I'll take some more pictures tomorrow and post them but it does look black in person. It matches the black plastic on the steps.

I'm sure it varies between dealers but my guy quoted me 150 for the steps. That included removing them from the truck, taking the plastic steps off, and re-installing everything.

I'm wanting to black out my wheel-to-wheel side steps… the Line-x is tempting me, but I might do powder coat to match my wheels (these rims are flat black PC, but I'm getting some new sport rims done in semi-gloss black PC). How hard is it to remove the plastic step pieces?

Not hard at all. I don't do anything special when I was my truck and they stay clean. I usually just spray them off and no need to scrub.
