Default Mufflex Muffler Delete Install Problems

Tried installing it about 30 minutes ago. First step they tell you to use some penetrating oil on the rubber hangers then move to the rear of the muffler and loosen the clamps that hold the two out-flow pipes. Well when trying to loosen the two outflow clamps, those things weren't budging what so ever. Tried an impact wrench (not pneumatic but electric) and still nothing loosening. How in the hell do you loosen those nuts on these clamps?

At this point we gave up and I might just take it to a shop for them to do it. Should be an hour to do this job and it took us 45 minutes just to figure out how to loosen the clamps. Lets just say we failed

Having done mine twice already, I will say that the first time was a PITA but I found what helps is a 1/2" ratchet and 18mm socket (I think) vs a smaller 3/8" to give you more leverage. That was the easy part for me. The hard part comes when the clamps are loose and you have to wiggle the pipes away from each other. More than one I thought about giving up at that point. Make sure you have someone helping out near the rear to catch the pipes so your chrome tips don't bounce off the ground when you finally wiggle them loose. I would give it one more shot before giving in and waving the white flag.

Good luck.

penetrating oil (PB Blaster) and heat (propane torch) will help loosen things up too
