Default Painting R/T emblem in grill?

Has anyone here done it?

I recently tinted the tail lights of my black R/T and was thinking blacking out the red of the emblem might give it the truck a cool, monotone look. All black and chrome in other words.

I've found a few people who've done it, maybe even one guy on here who painted his Mopar blue.

Just wondering how difficult it would be, or if plasti dip might even do the trick. I want to keep the chrome outline, so it might be difficult to peel the dip off the chrome, but not the red.

I've looked for decal overlays but can't find any.

Anyways, thoughts? Tips?

I like this idea. Take pictures when done. I am guessing you will have to paint it by hand if you want to keep the chrome outline.

Will do.

I might go the plasti dip route at first. I'm thinking I might be able to just wipe it off the chrome before it dries.

I did it with plasti dip last night. It was kind of a trial run to see how it would work.

Every coat (I think I did 6 or 7) I did, I'd wipe the chrome off before it dried. I used q-tips or my finger and it worked pretty well. The raised chrome border helped you keep the q-tip on it and not the inner part of the letters.

It's a bit rough but I think I could get it smoother next time. Even now, I think I could get some of the little rough spots off.

The lighting in my basement isn't the greatest, but the chrome really does shine.

Not a bad idea, but I've achieved the look I was going for.

Black letters, chrome outline.
